I just think that if you're a central midfileder you simply have to have more about you than knocking it back the the centre half or 15 yards sideways to the full back. Yes him and Gueye are 'holding' midfielders in a defensive sense (without the ball). But when they've got the ball they should be equipped to play positively for a decent percentage of the time surely. Otherwise why are they central midfielders?
Positive passes or carry the ball 10 yards and draw in the opposition, then shift the play and open up space. It ain't rocket science. At any level of football central midfielders should have the ability to do this. For some reason this season Schneiderlin isn't even trying it. Disappointed in him this season so far.
 

It's hilarious to see what koeman does to supporters.

Creating chances, making forward run are all the basic fundamentals of attacking midfielders. In other words NUMBER 10.

Koeman does a great job of confusing our 3 number 10s and they end up completely unable to do their basic. People start jumping on our defensive midfielder and question why they are not doing more of creating and attacking as if we do not have enough number 10 on the pitch.

Can't you all see the team is so mess up that we're asking defensive midfield to Attack more, our wing back to Attack more, while our 3 number 10 just remain static every game with very little contribution.

The whole setup is a complete mess.

These are good points mate. The numbers 10's are supposed to be the creative attacking midfielders no doubt about it. They're not doing it either. But, if we're talking about Schneiderlin in this thread, then in my opinion he's a central midfielder who should (by virtue of being a specialist in that position) have enough ability to start things off positively. Judged on performances last year he has. Needs to get back to that is all I'm asking of him.
 
To play forward balls from a defensive midfield role you need the players in front of you moving and taking up positions. When I watch Everton Sandro moves but the distance between him and the defensive midfielders have to hit long balls over the intervening players. Our plethora of number 10s seem to drop back and are either level with the DM or a very short distance from him and the pass really doesn't improve our position.
We need some width to open up spaces and we need pace to get into those spaces before they are closed down.
I am not sure all our crab like football is purely down to Snides. We don't have a focal point for our attack, we don't seem to want to spread the play over the width of the pitch and we don't seem to want pace.
It is almost like Koeman thinks it is cheating to hit a team on the break or before they have had the chance to get their defence set up. It is like he only wants to score when the opposition are at their strongest so we mess about until they get set up.
Everton's ills are not down to one player or one section of the team, it is a collective issue and they all have to look at their performance.
If I had to pick our biggest issue it would be the lack of a focal point for the attack, having a dodgy centre half isn't helping either.

I though Schniederlin looked really good for a period in the 2nd half when Gana was off and Davies was creating room for him to pass and move.

Then Klaassen came on and clogged up the front with Rooney playing where he fancied thus negating the best work Sigurdsson had been doing.

You can see the whole thing is a mess.

We have some excellent footballers playing in a dump of a team.
 

Just another of those playing well below his best. When you have 7,8,9 others like that, matched to a system where nobody has a clue what they are doing and you have a recipe for disaster. That's what we are watching.

Hard to blame any individual but as a unit they are all lacking confidence and so the ball is like a hot potatoes and everyone is looking for the safe option. So the #10's drop deeper to collect the ball, leaving the final third threadbare.

Add to that no proper striker and boom, it's not a pretty sight.

That's how desperate we are as fans right now. We want to see someone do something, but deep down we know Koeman is the problem. He sets his players up to fail
