Is there a game plan though?
We appear to be just lashing a load of captains on the pitch in the hope that they lead us to victory. The blend is dreadful so the players perform badly.
Definitely an issue with how we set up but,
This lad's job is to stop passes getting in to the opposition strikers with time to run at our back 4. He isn't as mobile as Gana so he's got to constantly read the game, keep tabs on what's going on behind him (does he need to slide right or left to cut off the pass etc).
When we do have it, especially the full backs and the centre backs, he should be constantly creating angles, showing for the ball, taking responsibility. He should want it ALL the time. If he gets man marked, he needs to take that marker into areas of the pitch they don't want to go.
Today, Spurs pressed us high. Fine. But that's not an excuse for him not to get our front players in the game. He had no desire to take the game by the scruff of the neck today.
He's meant to be our best centre midfielder in possession. Yet he never wants the ball.
Players who aren't capable don't bother me. Idle bells like this lad who obviously have the quality but cba or don't want to apply it drive me bat-something crazy.
