I haven't got stats, but watching the games he passes 75% sideways or backwards.
No point.

Both on their best days, Delph is far better.
The funny thing though is the way people treat stats if they said 75% of his passes were forward (they almost certainly don't) everyone would swear they were wrong and there eyes were right. Dead weird.

lollollol

Hes literally just made up stats.

He made 35 passes, 27 were forward, 8 backwards.

So he made 77% forward passes.

Thats what the REAL stats say.

I'll take your word for it.

I saw something right before he got dropped a few weeks ago that had him in the 80th percentile for forward passes per 90 minutes or something of that nature. He's a bit better on the ball than people will ever admit.

It reminds me of Ozil a bit in that regardless of what he does someone always comes in to say he doesn't work hard, no heart, etc. Obviously not as good but same concept with how he is criticized.

I think hes just really average, people expect more from him than they should.

His job is to get the ball and give it to the more creative players, hes also very laid back so he comes across as lazy and disinterested.

Hes nowhere near the player we need and hes not even close to good enough, but he gets a bad press from most fans on here, but he certainly doesnt help himself with his stupid red cards and his part in their goal today.

But hes our 5th choice CM, when everybody is fit, so not many teams are gonna have a top quality 5th choice CM.

To be fair to him today there are probably less than 15 midfielders in the league who would have had a chance 1v1 against Boufal. But yeah average player who does his job and very rarely more. Which is why I always say bigger problems exist. If the other parts of the team function he is capable. If they don't he struggles too. Long term we need better but when he's forced in he's fine.

He's awful. Take their goal today, he backed off and off their winger and he kept looking over his shoulder at what, I have no idea.

As a DM in that position he has to get in the winger's face, deny him space, stop him running at you. But what does the tit do? He backed off and backed off allowing the attacker to run at him and turn him. Next thing the attackers in the box and if he tackles now it's a pen so the advantage was now with the winger.

Goal... He is truly an awful player.
