If Gordon was out of contract soon and refusing a new deal it would be wise to sell, yes. That proves my point though, good players are sold all the time so the question "Why don't they want him if he's that good" is bizarre.

And yes I don’t think that every player sold is poor but if we sold Gordon (less than a year younger) to Wolves would that be sensible when either he’ll be worth more next year or the year after or he’ll be an asset to the team.

Late 90's early 2000's i was one of those people that knew all the players in all the top leagues in Europe. Watched as many games as was possible and bought every football magazine i could find.
