Talking of turning points, I've been meaning to write an article on this but heres the jist;

Moyes' first 162 games;

Won 61, drew 34, lost 68. GD: 198 scored, 235 conceded.

Now does anyone remember Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on New Year’s Eve 2005?

We were really struggling, we had a rapid demise during the second half of 2005. We travelled to Sunderland who were arguably the worst side to have ever featured in the Premiership at the time. Prior playing us, they had lost 8 home games and were certs for relegation.

Yet, after gaining their first point in 30, they had a bit of confidence and they bossed the game. Missed chance after chance and should have had a pen.

Third minute of stoppage time, Kilbanes corner found the head of Cahill to get us a vital 3 points which in my mind, was a massive, massive turning point.

Following 162 games;

Won 75, drew 44, lost 43. GD: 231 scored, 158 conceded

Arteta coming bk cannot come soon enough . I think Cahill is seriously missing him not being there . When Arteta plays Cahill turns into action man . I love Cahill but Arteta not playing is killing him

The commentators today mentioned a couple similarities:

1) Tonked by Arsenal to start the season in '03/'04
2) Tonked by Arsenal to start the season in '09/'10

1) Sold a name player to a club in Manchester for big money in '03/'04.
2) Sold a name player to a club in Manchester for big money in '09/'10.

1) Finished 4th in '03/'04
2) ??????

Impressive. I thought the major turning point came a few months before that. Post-Rooney, tvvated 4-1 first game by Arsenal, then an away win at Palace proved massive. It had *that* feel to it: stopping the rot which stretched back to the terrible season before. They didn't really look back.

I was there , and wishing to beat the traffic was up for the off . Me boy said , no . Within two mins Timmy was shadow boxing at the corner flag and we'd turned the corner .
Well done , Son .
Well done , Timmy .

What was that in the authors post, a Kevin Brock backpass?

You can't make comparisons between today and Heath in '84, nothing will ever surpass that, that really was the end all and be all of transforming Evertons fortunes.

I'm sure Sunderland 2005 was someone else, can't remember back fully, either Stubbs or another defender, I'm sure it was, because I remember bobbing up and down when it came through they had scored in added time, had a good new years eve that year. :cheers:
