24 appearances = 1 goal.
This is why stats are bad.

It seems it’s pointless trying to blood young players because he’s played about 9 games in total but because of these cameos even if he goes on a scoring spree his goals per game ratio will likely never been that impressive because of this initial period.

The problem with patience is that Ancelotti is only here definitely for 4 years and there is no guarantee when he leaves that we will replace him with anyone near as good and could well end up with another Silva/Koeman/Martinez etc etc.

No point persisting with players not good enough currently and finishing 8-11th every season with a world class manager when we should be signing proven players for the manager to win us a few trophies/ qualify for Europe & CL.

This fanbase has been patient for 25 years - about time we started actually competing again.
how would you know carlo won’t be here after 4 years?
how do you know kean won’t be a success if develop properly?
how would you know we will finish 8th every season with kean?
How would you know we will definitely finish 4th after selling him?

I understand opinion and all, it’s great to have an opinion isn’t it, but to convince people with wild speculation won’t bring you anywhere. What has kean got to do with failure of Silva Martinez Koeman and 25 years of suffering?

stats are fine, but they have to be used honestly. Fine to use appearances to goals ratios for someone who starts and finishes most of their games, but dishonest to use that for someone when most of those appearances are 10 minutes here and there.

I worry with Kean that he needs games to get used to the league and try to play himself into some form, but hard to justify doing that at the moment. He‘s shown in flashes that he’s got pace and skill, and is direct and wants to try to get a shot away. But first touch seems suspect, and decision making can be awful (that shot from distance in last few minutes vs Arsenal).

I’ll back whatever Carlo decides to do with him in the summer.

My point is, its taken us about 30 odd years to finally bring in a manager of the calibre of NSNO and some fans want us to persist with player's not nearly ready like Davies and this lad who's scored 1 goal all season because "they may come good in 2-3 years time".

Its ludicrous- if he isnt good enough now, get him a loan move to help his development and sign a CF in the summer who can actually help us compete for Europe & trophies now!

How many starts?
Boo louder on Sunday when he comes on. Not sure we can all hear you

It's not just his lack of goals. Apart from 45 minutes against Newcastle, he's looked lost and never in games.

Some players are suited to some leagues more than others. The PL isn't for everyone. Some very good players in the past have failed to shine here.

It's just one of those things.

Ronaldo took about 18 champions league games or something to score. 15 years later hes averaging a goal a game pretty much.

Ronaldo is an exception I know. Kean obviously isn't on that level (not that that's problem). But I bet Fergie was glad he never lost the head and loaned Cristiano out to Doncaster Rovers.

Thank goodness we now have a manager who knows what he's doing.

Careful, the anti Kean brigade will have you for daring to compare the two

The hopeful long range effort in the last minute at Arsenal summed up his time here. He’s desperate to make an impact, and this translates into a lack of composure, which was required at that moment in order to make the correct decision, because there were others in support (unusually for us). Atm, he certainly doesn’t appear to be the answer to our striking problems. The only way to make a judgement is to give him proper game time, but Silva hardly gave him a chance, and there must have been a reason for that.

what’s the point of sending him out to learn from second grade championship manager when he can improve under Ancelotti. By your 30 years logic the whole team deserve to go bar Richie. We might as well shut the club down to stop the misery. Some reality is needed here, We will be a joke of a club if we sign a promising youngster for 30m and within 6months decide he will never make it without even nurturing him.

Thats clearly hyperbole mate, whilst Richarlison is our best player we still have players who CONTRIBUTE to the team - Gomes, Bernard, Holgate, Digne, and to a lesser extent Walcott & Mina.

The problem is Kean offers nothing, zilch, nada - he has the same impact as Niasse. If he's as good as what we think he can become it doesn't matter who his manager is - a loan move to the championship would sort him out and give him the experience and regular game time needed.

A question - do you think Holgate and Tammy Abraham would be as good as they are this season had they both been sat on ours and Chelsea's bench last season barely getting a game?

Their loan move helped them - look at Nketiah's recent comments for Arsenal:

"Eddie Nketiah believes his tough loan spell with Leeds helped him prepare for the battle to become Mikel Arteta's first-choice striker at Arsenal."

but apparently a loan move is to good for Moise.

Think once we get a few more points on the table, but Europe looks out of the question he should get more starts.

Training and learning from Duncan and Carlo will benefit much more than any other championship team.
Training with Richie and dcl weekly will definitely improve him faster than some no mark striker as a benchmark in some poor team.

look at the progress of dcl, if we send him out on loan, we might never be able to see the progress under Carlo now.

I’ve back holgate to be well and want us to keep him in the summer because he had the fundamental and basic attribute to do well.
I am applying the same logic on kean.

There might be some other factor that slow his progress but the basic ability is clear. The implementation can be nurture.
