That's the nonsense of stats.
Yes it goes down as a Kean assist and Richarlison who did most of the work for the goal gets no statistical credit.

he technically does, on proper full on Opta-style stats if the person who gets the assist only touches it once the previous person gets some other thing, half assist or whatever it was called that they used to say barkley got a lot of

Thanks for the knowledge

but kean did win the ball to set up the attack too, so the assist belongs to him, every bit as much. Lets be fair, all richarlison did is run into acres of space and play a simple ball through, for most teams in the prem that was an easy counter, we've just been so used to years of us mucking up that kind of play that we think it was excellent.

Let's be honest with ourselves here, past incumbents in that position would have got the ball to Richarlison then simply stopped and rolled a fag and watched the Brazilian do the rest on his own.

Just total RESPECT for Moise for doing what he did. Coming from just scoring his first goal for the blues in the Newcastle match and had the total unselfishness to lay the pass to his teammate and forego chance to better his goal tally and quench his young thirsty appetite, is nothing but hats off stuff here, and nothing but RESPECT, RESPECT, RESPECT. This kid has great things to come!! Just study the video in slow mo in all directions and you will be convinced.

Stats tell the story you want them to tell and it's that simple really.

Pienaar was excellent for us, but his assist stats are probably quite low because it usually went Pienaar to Baines, whom whipped in the naughty ball. I think they have a term in hockey for this phase of the play.

Underselling Richarlison's role massively there. Was a lovely bit of play to draw the defender over to him and then encourage him to commit, then to slip the ball in with his wrong foot while running pretty much full pelt. He made it look easy, but it wasn't really.
