I love me some Turkish football, but I gotta agree. He should be in the EPL - his physical play is a perfect fit. I can't believe someone didn't pick him up.

He'll eventually be in England though. Hope he signs a short-term deal.

The only saving grace of this is that he is virtually guaranteed Champions League football.

On a side note...

Just finished playing an indoor match tonight against Dom Kinnear, Steve Ralston, and a bunch of the other Dynamo staffers. We lost 9-6 but it was fun.

TX Bill - we lead parallel lives - though I didn't play with the Dynamo this week. :) I did however join an indoor soccer league and had my butt handed to me Thursday night. It was as difficult as I thought it was going to be, but at least I didn't embarrass myself. Came close a couple of times though - first time on the court, oh, like, ever! They were short on girls... Don't regret it though - should be tons of fun. :)

Back on topic: I wish it were 3/15 already. Then I could be back to watching two football games a week!

Remaining on Topic:
I'm excited for Seattle to have a few 'local' rival teams. I've never really had the chance to travel with the team and I'll jump at the chance to see Sounders FC at Vancouver and Portland. Should be a good season.

I read on Twitter somewhere that Kasey Keller (current Seattle keeper and Portland native) was at a Portland Trailblazers NBA game recently.

They showed him on the big screen in the arena and he was booed.

Yes, I believe that rivalry is gonna be reeeeeeaaaaaaal good.

As I've gotten older, I've been able to play no problem but in the last year or two, I've really seen my skill/ability level drop quite a bit. Part of it is that I don't play as much as I used to (into cycling now) so not quite as fit but still, it's been a bit disconcerting to be just a step slow out there.

The fact that they knew enough to boo - AWESOME. Some people must have been like, "why are we booing?" Early signs are that Portland are going to be WELL supported. I think that's great.

I do believe this might be the TV deal, but I could be wrong. Interesting that they are trotting out Henry for this - smart on MLS' part, normally that role might have been Beckham.

MLS has "major" announcement Tuesday -- Don Garber, Landon Donovan and Thierry Henry to discuss
Posted by Joshua Mayers
Major League Soccer will have a "major soccer announcement" on its website Tuesday at 7 a.m. PT. Commissioner Don Garber will discuss the news on a conference call later in the day at 12:30 p.m.

League stars Landon Donovan and Thierry Henry will also be on the call, which adds some intrigue as well.

What could it be?

A new TV deal? A new tournament? A new team? New rules? A playoff format? The 2011 league schedule? All-star info? A high-profile summer tour announcement? Arsenal? Barcelona?

EDIT: Oh, the all-star game is in NY. Yes, that really was it. Lame.
