Well you don't always have to be big players in the free agency/transfer window market to have success on the pitch. Heard you guys are going with FieldTurf this year. Thoughts on that? I just hope they remove the lines - no offense to your club, but watching matches at Gillette was the worst thing in the world. I kept thinking Montero was going to score a touchdown.

I don't necessarily want us to be a big player on the transfer market, I just want us to be a player. Our depth is worse than it has been in years, and our overall talent/skill level has dropped significantly. We are a far cry from the machine that went to 4 MLS Cups and won the US Open Cup and SuperLiga.

As for the FieldTurf, we've actually had it since (I think) 2007, we're just getting a new surface laid for the upcoming soccer/football seasons. We'll still have gridiron lines at some points, but they try to minimize how often (generally it should only be on days when the Pats are at home the next day).

Shalrie doesn't do anything for you? I'd give up quite a bit to land him on my team. (y)

He is, by far, the best player on the team, and easily one of the best in MLS. The man picked us up on his shoulders last season, and carried us most of the way.

The Crew will take on Mexcian club Toluca on Tuesday, March 9, at Crew Stadium in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League

Have'nt heard much on GBS but I think he will be back... Moreno is gone to Philly but we got Brite Dike who I think will be good..

My DCU projected line-up:

------------Perkins----------
James--Jakovic--Namoff--Wallace(Mid?)
Quaranta--Simms--Szetela--Castillo
--------Pontius--Moreno-----

Pretty good squad i think. Will we get into the playoffs? Yes. Will we win the MLS cup? probably not.

Looking forward to a rematch with the Flounders for the US Open Cup.

That avatar really fits with your name. (y)

Edit: I guess this doesn't fit anymore since your getting your name changed. But then again your new name is in your new avatar.

Toluca can have some good friendlies from time to time.

I'd wager $20 that there's at least one pushing and shoving match between the Crew and Toluca.

only a fool would take that bet... I will go as far as to say someone will see RED

I didn't want to go that far but yeah, there's a good chance of that happening.

Keep us posted.

I was never a fan of Moreno; dude was a salesman.

Toluca eh? That's like hockey-brawl status, haha. Well as Bill said, those can be very entertaining.

Kind of tacky using that name for a team that beat you, eh? Sore loser! :P

Well fear not, we played a preseason against the Vancouver Whitecaps (USL side) on Saturday and with mostly starters, played to a 0-0 draw. Our single biggest problem last year was finishing, and we had a nasty scoring drought. Good to see we still have that drought in effect /sarcasm.

Well, he's great. The rest of the team...maybe it's just because they're playing in front of 8k at Gillette every game. I just really have a hard time getting fired up to watch them.

Galaxy, Sounders, Crew...those are the games I make sure not to miss.

Don't worry. DC has played 5 preseason games and are 2-1-2:

DC 0-1 Columbus
DC 0-0 TFC
DC 0-0 NYRB
DC 5-2 US-U17
DC 1-0 Florida Gulf Coast University

As for the rematch, this time we won't have a keeper in need of anger management. :P

Looking forward to the new Red Bulls stadium

got me season tix... get to see Robinho in a few weeks as Santos comes to town

I'm looking forward to watching the opening match at Qwest Field in a few week. Last year's Sounders' opener was fantastic. (y)

With us only losing Le Toux the team should continue to improve as players get more comfortable with each other and the youngsters mature. With just a little more improvement on his awareness and decision making Zakuani will be a real threat down the left hand side. Hopefully Nyassi keeps improving and gets a good amount of playing time as well.

With N'Kufo coming in after the World Cup to bolster the attack I can only see things improving this year!

NY Red Bull's opening match will be on ESPN in HD at the new stadium.

Can't wait to see it and yes, I'm jealous.

That said, hopefully the top brass with AEG (Dynamo owners) will get some ideas from it.

I'm jealous too. DC is almost exactly like Everton with their stadium situations. The difference is that RFK is literally falling apart.

Toronto FC....Back line not solid, no strikers that can find the back of the net and a below average midfield at current performances, but can do better.

Another season without playoffs I think I will predict, shame for the fans. But hey, with de Guzman and De ro in midfield, who knows, things might just click. Hoping rather than expecting though.
The defense shouldn't be too bad seeing as we got rid of velez and hopefully garcia never sees the pitch. with attakora, serioux, brennan, wynne and gomez thats not bad, plus this new guy harden may not be too bad. midfield is probably our strongest point with a fresh and fully trained De guzman, De Ro, sanyang and cronin. as for strikers thats where we struggle, but obrian white looked pretty promising and now that he has a full preseason he may be a good option. we have an excellent keeper in Frei and a good manager in Preki. He'll probly sign a stiker or two.
