Didn't make any sense at the time and even less sense after this season. Beane tried to be way too clever with that one. Trade away a MVP-caliber player with several affordable seasons before free agency. Head scratcher
Tried to be really clever and yeah he made a huge mistake.
Got some nice prospects though. Graveman looked shaky, got sent down and then come back up a different player with all sorts of pitch control.
I like Lawrie but he's so so. Not a Donaldson replacement at all.
Sean Nolin looked ok late in the year but nothing to say he was a steal in the trade.
Franklin Barreto is meant to quality, from everything I've read.(

He's a shortstop though and they have Marcus Semien there ATM, who is sound apart from the errors. If one of them can play 2nd instead of
Sogard then that may be an option.
Don't know what to expect from the A's though this year. I suppose we'll know more as the meetings start.
