MLB 2016

Has a great track record pitching in the playoffs (until his last start v. the Cubs). Really missed Murphy in that game and Conforto hasn't come on. Need some bats for next year but still hard not to be optimistic. With this pitching staff, the Mets have a great shot going forward

Loads and loads of injuries too wasn't there?

Checked stubhub for tonight's game 5. Only $40 for standing room only, can get a seat for game 5 for less than $50.
Was over $140 for similar tix for the Mets/Giants WC playoff.
Note to @mezzrow and other Cubs fans. May find some cheap tix if the Nats win

Indeed. That's also the message being blasted across the Cubbie forums as well.

Joe Maddon: No preference, play the winner.
Cubs nation: Pleeeease, let it be the Nats so we can get tickets.

Power's finally back, so I'll enjoy the game from La Casa Mezz.

We're off to Toronto for the week at the weekend and taking in a Blue Jays game while we're there. Never been to any MLB or NFL games before and not watched much baseball either. Really looking forward to it, and the Rogers Centre looks amazing from what I have seen ;)

Enjoy! The Rogers Centre is a technological wonder, but as a baseball stadium, it has more in common with West Ham's new grounds than with a place like Goodison, for all the good and bad that implies. [distant views]

I am hoping for an all-Great Lakes World Series, of course. I must admit my sentiments lean toward the Tribe due to my many friendships with Clevelanders, who have suffered as greatly as Cubs Nation over the decades.

Just catching up on Giants Cubs last night.

One thing I don't quite get, lad smashes one right into the wall of the stand but it doesn't count as a HR? Only a double?

Why isn't it a HR? If they'd made that stand lower it would have been?! I'm so confused by this.

I think it was the Crawford double you're asking about. It hit that greyish concrete at the top but didn't clear the wall. Each stadium has its own dimensions and corresponding ground rules. Watched it at the time and thought it had hit the railing

Atmosphere at the Rogers Centre is incredible especially in the playoffs. If you are here already head up to Scallywags pub in St Clair for the City game tomorrow, they will be open early and showing it.

Looking forward to it even more now after watching the Cubs vs Giants game this morning on ESPN. I might just be converted into a MLB fan at this rate :D

I guess it's the same for both sides, but does seems a little mental.

We're not flying over until Sunday so won't make the City game - have packed my Everton shirt ready for the Burnley game next Saturday though. Is it considered "cricket" to be on the pop at 10am on a Saturday?? lol

What does an insect have to do with it?

Of course it's OK on Saturday. We have Toronto blues on this forum, but I can't remember who they are off the top of my head.

Use a thread to put out a call and you might find yourself a pub and some company.

Anticipation, anticipation...

Miggy and Stek. Together on my wall of fame for 10/15/2016. This is the first Cubs win in a NLCS game since that night in 2003.

If you ever bump into Steve Bartman, give him a hug and buy him a beer.
