Mixed Feelings

Want to see mirallas sold, he become a liability, we can't defend crosses and this needs to be sorted and changing the keeper not sorted it. We need a strong keeper and also a powerful defender who can jump and head. The question for me is can Martinez sort out the defence?

I wasn't saying I didn't want us to win, I was just trying to take some positives from yet another frustrating afternoon. I'm bored of getting upset about it, it's pointless.

Spot on. You're heart says a win, you're head says not, no matter how many goals you are in front.

You get used to it over time .

the only mixed feelings i will have with result is Martinez loses his job

i.e Fume at the lost but ecstatic he gets the boot

Obviously gutted we have lost ANOTHER 2 goal lead. But from what I could tell:

Mirallas lost us the game, so at least there is now no debate over whether we should keep him

We had a right good go with 10 men, rather than sitting back and waiting to lose.

A draw would have been no us to us, and at least it puts West Ham further above the RS.

All this is masking the fact that when we missed a pen at 2-0 I thought we might lose the game. I can't think of any other Everton team that I was sure could capitulate as much as this one, which does make you think something is mentally wrong. That said, it's probably because of the Stoke and Leicester and Bournemouth and Chelsea games. We badly need some leadership on the pitch (and maybe off it). I'm gutted because Martinez is skating on thin ice now, although I think if we'd had eleven men we would have won comfortably which is not his fault.
To be honest, my mixed feelings were before this game - I wanted him to stay, learn from his mistakes, do well and boss next season. That's not to say I had Davek levels of support for Martinez, I was, if you were to put a percentage on it, 55/45 for him to stay, as there were loads of negatives.

In the last few games that shifted to a to a bit more favourable percentages, if you will, but today he's just proven he doesn't deserve them. Another game thrown away, this time completely, another poor defensive showing, and I can't really blame the players. It's clear our defensive style is " utter chaos", at best, especially at set pieces and crosses from deep.

And I fully disagree with the sentiment of "we had a good go with 10 men" - yeah, that'd be nice, fantastic... if West Ham were the ones being several goals up and we were chasing. We had nothing to do but sit back, and it's not like we were opening them up like it's no one's business - our build up was gash when Niasse came on (nothing on the lad, he's a striker after all, not a midfielder) and we looked even more unable to string a few passes, instead of looking like team that's going to take the commanding lead and go home with it (figuratively, as it was a home game after all). This isn't even the first instance this is happening - Stoke was the exact same story; putting on MORE strikers instead of reassuring the chaotic midfield and with it, the win.

And I'm also the least arsed person about West Ham or the RS at this point. Couldn't care less where either of those wankstain clubs finish. I want Everton to win, and seeing as we were 2:0 up AGAIN, I even expected it to happen.

An utterly pathetic post, testament to the acceptance of mediocrity that swarms our fanbase.

Let's be honest when Rom missed that penalty we knew what was coming.

Argument over in my opinion, I don't see any positives in continuously screwing up.

Hopefully learning from your mistakes. If I do something wrong a couple of times, I think it might be bad luck. This season it has happened 4 or 5 times, so if Martinez keeps his job he will need to spend the off-season having a good think about how he can progress as a manager. You have to say though, at a level where he has better players, Wenger has never learned. But I'd rather watch Arsenal than Mourinho's Chelsea, although it must be just as frustrating in some ways supporting Arsenal as it is supporting Everton.

Besic is brilliant. A lot of players on that pitch showed dedication and commitment today. Niasse showed nothing, apart from putting his hands in front of his face instead of blocking a long ball. Lennon was like having two players. Should've stayed on. Gutted. Do one Martinez.

Mirallas made it difficult for us and was stupid but he didn't lose us the game. We lost the because we can't close out games and our complete inability to deal with crosses.

With this in mind what sort of clown makes that Niasse substitution, it was mind bogglingly stupid. This is on Martinez today. We were 2-0 up with 10 minutes to play for gods sake. 10 men or not losing from that position is unacceptable.

Agree with this post

Lennon was class he had pace that worried west ham. Martinez goes and takes him off which gives them more space to move players into. Put a new player on that hasnt played with the team in a full match yet and he looked lost. Sorry but martinez subs cost us the game again. Kev didnt help gettin sent off but also where was the defence.

I would love the frustration of back to back FA Cup wins and constant top 4 finishes.

We can do far better than Roberto. He is the attacking version of Pulis. You have to be able to do both.

The subs and miralles lost us the game.

The 2nd half first 30mins was as good as I've seen us play at home this yr
