He wasted 10M on that daft looking Russian divvy and 8M on that lunatic Beattie; and, might I remind you, wanted to spend 9 friggin million on Barry Ferguson.

*sigh*

He made £17-19m profit on Lescott, alone. He made our current team which consistantly finished 6th/7th.

At least with Barkley and McCarthy we'd have two extremely young players we could rotate or play together and be strong in that position for years to come, especially with the likes of Lundstram coming through. McCarthy would be an improvement on Osman, who is not getting any fitter or younger.

8m?

It was 6m.

9m for Barry Ferguson? Would love to see proof of an actual bid for that.

McCarthy and Barry in CM ''intrigues'' you? A bit like the way some people like watching brutal horror movies ?

We had a debate about Martinez's Wigan win ratio pre-appointment, and you told me I couldn't ''see the wood for the trees''. Just a quick update - in regulation 90 minutes, official matches (as settled by bookmakers as the ''result')- 4 games, 4 draws, 0% win ratio.

I said I thought he'd end the season on less than 25% - please vault it.

20m - for two Wigan players. Who played in crucial positions as they got, er, relegated.

if we have barkley, mirallas and defeloeu ahead of them it might work?

There's a blend of youth/dynamism and experience/solidity I like there with JM and GB (if it happens). I do think we need an experienced man in there. Gibson for me dowsn't have authority.

As it stands, it doesn’t look like Fellaini/Baines deals are on, United not meeting out valuation, Moyes will try ticks, don’t be surprised to read BN on SKY tomorrow talking about a new bid, something like 18M divided to 3 years (6M upfront) and additional 8M add-ons (things like 2M if they win the Champions League) while the story will be United offered 24M, he might hope that Fellaini might get desperate (like Arteta) and force us to do a deal.

I read somewhere today that Wigan rejected an offer from us for McCarthy, 10M in installments

If we don’t sell anyone and bring Barry on loan and McCarthy (up to 15M based on installments and ad-ons) it will be perfect

Arteta didn't force anything, we needed the money an the club was desperate, not Arteta. £10m went to the banks.

Oooh the bunion followers are honing their knives for ready for a Martinez/ McCarthy blood fest, come transfer window close of play.
For me I'd be happy with McCarthy and Ince, add in striker on loan too.

You do realise that if it still costs 5m for Kone, across a decade, we've still paid 5m for Kone?

5m.

For Kone.

But "if" we end up paying the £5m then it will mean he has reached his targets? which if he is totally crap during his time here he is not going to is he?

Still think we need another body in there myself. Gibson Osman and Barry should be bit-part. Rotate between them. McCarthy is likely to be a mainstay and Barkley needs competition.
