Mirallas to start against Villa?

Generally don't change a winning side.

I think that's a dumb rule to follow blindly.

Each game presents different obstacles. I'm not saying you switch them all out for a new XI, but a minor change or two to suit the different requirements makes more sense.

If Jelavic is injured then Mirallas should start imo.

Moyes being the negative cart he is though will probably start with victor up front.

I think somehow Moyes will always manage to shoehorn Neville in each week, may not offer as much as others in the team, but is basically "Moyes" on the pitch, chivvying and making sure the boss's instructions are carried out IMHO!!

Incidentally does anyone remember greece in 2004 (probably the finest single tactical masterclass I've ever witnessed)? Their manager had different line ups in the quarter, the semi and the final as they changed their formation to adapt to their opponents so Giorgos Karagounis was dropped to the bench after playing a major part of the semi final win against the czechs which was by some distance the best result his nation had ever achieved. Not to mention ferguson going three years without ever picking the same team twice in a row.

Never changing the winning side is cowardly bollocks.

I think sometimes you should change a winning side when your next opponent is stronger too. I would alter your version to "never change a winning side unless you should".

So, what you're saying is, it's up to the... the... manager? Like... the guy in charge of the team, not us?

No it's more that I'm saying is that there's this no hard and fast rules, sometimes the right choice is to change a winning side and sometimes it isn't. And likewise sometimes the manager makes the right choice and sometimes he doesn't. I'm still reserving the right to have an opinion about whether his choice was the right one or not when he makes it and what I think the right choice will be

So.... Never change a winning side unless you have better options to overcome a weaker side.

The ............ part was to signify the stupidity of the first part when considering what I really thought. Sorry if that didn't come across in writing.

Never in this case does not mean never but more that I expect Moyes not to change a winning side.

Sorry mate, wasn't having a go at you. Was just saying that it's all subjective and we shouldn't be arguing between ourselves about whether you change a winning side or not. Just as you said.

Actually, I completely agree with you.
