Honestly I agree entirely, I was just protesting at the misuse of the word never and offering a less grammatically offensive alternative.

I think sometimes you should change a winning side when your next opponent is stronger too. I would alter your version to "never change a winning side unless you should".
So, what you're saying is, it's up to the... the... manager? Like... the guy in charge of the team, not us?

No it's more that I'm saying is that there's this no hard and fast rules, sometimes the right choice is to change a winning side and sometimes it isn't. And likewise sometimes the manager makes the right choice and sometimes he doesn't. I'm still reserving the right to have an opinion about whether his choice was the right one or not when he makes it and what I think the right choice will be
