minor things that make you fume

They're a very unique society, there's whole separate issue going on apparently....see "Johatsu". I almost took a shot at @Tommy Chong s post in the music thread about that Japanese punk band but, although I understand them as a people a bit; not enough to go too far.
I'll need to do some reading on this, 'cos I'm well out of my depth.

How you can go to bed feeling perfectly fine
Sleep 7 hours perfectly fine
Wake up for a piss, get back into bed, then Chernobyl happens in your nose: it’s blocked, it’s runny, you’re sneezing.

Like why did none of that happen during the night??? Does pollen only register when you’re conscious??? Are allergies just a trick of the mind???
I dream of doing that.

Might be a blood pressure issue, or maybe a hydration/sodium thing. You taking any mad supps?

The lads in Scotland that sold their heritage to the Japanese whisky nouveau need booting out of the uk totally. Sacrilege. (about as much as I know re Japanese distilling).

Japanese scotch quality has tanked in the last 7 years due to popularity/low production so we'll see how/if they try to bounce back. My guess is it's going to be a while unless they outbid the rest of the world for our or Spain's casks.

Was talking to one of the madmen in my circle of acquaintances the other day about how he had a split share on a cask of some rare scotch in the late 90's and traded it away fairly recently, and how he's all butt hurt about feeling short changed.
Are you suggesting there could be money in a cooper outfit knocking together vintage barrels and storing them to advance the cask aging for high brow spirit producers?

I have been reading some Seicho Matsumoto. His fiction is being translated and published by Penguin Classics. They are set in the 50'd / 60's as Japan copes with the humiliation and devastation of WW2 and the rise of industrialisation. A very interesting look on the Japanese culture of the time, much of which still holds true apparently.

Ahh, thanks for not having a pop at me, mate… 😂

But I suppose at the end of the day, you are talking about a culture that views committing harakiri as a way of restoring honour, gets off to watching animated hentai porn, and has vending machines with school girls dirty kecks readily available around every corner.

There’s even that infamous ‘suicide’ forest where they go to commit ritualistic suicide, which is not really viewed as strange in their culture.

It’s not really our place to look down, or pass judgement on their ways, and believes. All you can do is stand back and view it with a pinch of objectivity. 🤷

Not necessarily, you want fresh "wet" bourbon, sherry etc casks apart from the wood type (ie. American Oak). Knowing the Japanese, they'll invest locally and set up Mizunara Oak tree farms to keep everything centric, which is what I'd suggest but that will take time.

I've read a little about Toyota production efficiencies, adding production line effectiveness. And about the Mitsubishi Zero and the one the yanks found and Duralumin. Oh, and the super battleship Yamato. Shame what the war effort did to the culturally significant artifacts (metal) for historic reasons.

No, I just find any Japanese youth culture interesting...see the rockabilly kids. I'd like to see them (and expect) them to meld things but they go full on carbon copy but it's probably just them being respectful, as they see it.

The cult of the personality becomes dominant in an ordered society.
I was reading an article about Tojo recently. He was allowed to be in charge of everything in the end, deferring only nominally to The Emperor.
