I dusted off my oldish Acer the other day, updated to Windows 10 from 7. Shouldn't have bothered, I now just get a system boot error and it won't start up.

Back to the MacBook it is then.

Same here, but it was knackered so I bought a new Lenovo with W10 and is superb.
