minimum 5th gets Europe...can we make it?

So significant losses and significant wins...sounds like most decent managers' experiences. I'd even say Moyes is a master at the art of buying cheap and having them contribute loads (Arteta, Cahill, Jags).

The point is that he's not infallible at making huge losses with big-money buys. So we can't use that as a defence for him.

Not really, cos I listed all his "failures" and they all get wiped out by the sale of 1 player.

He doesnt have a Torres or a Veron in his closet.

So what? What's your point? Neither do many managers out there. Not every club can spunk 30m or 50m on a famous player.

If we had the finances to back taking a risk i'd be all for it mate, but we just don't.

If Liverpool get a new manager in and he's crap, or doesn't win them trophies, then they can sack him and spunk some more money up the wall. Rodgers has spent £50m already.

If Everton get a new manager in and give him the proceeds from selling Fellaini, then that money will have to be spent well, or the s**t starts to hit the fan. Half of our starting eleven will need replacing within the next 4-5 years, doing that on meagre funds is no easy feat.

Believe me, i don't think Moyes is a genius, i just think he's our best option.

Honestly I can see that argument. But, footballs about winning trophies. I'm not demanding them or suggesting we've got a right but I'd like us to at least be in with a chance. With him it'll never happen IMO. That's my reasons for wanting a change.

When we were about to sign Fer (even though Moyes said on Sky Sports as soon as it was announced, that the deal was not completed hint hint) Moyes said this:

Moyes robustly rejected the suggestion he has dipped into summer funds in the knowledge that a massive transfer fee for Fellaini will follow at the end of the season.

"I read something like that and that is the biggest load of tosh," he said. "That is nonsense whoever wrote or said it. They are different types of players. That is not the reason for trying to bringing him in, that is for sure.

"In time I will probably explain a bit better but it is correct to say the chairman has done great. He has gone out and found us some cash to use and I am certainly grateful for that."

Moyes says there is the club recognises that investing in the transfer window rather than the summer could help the club to secure a Champions League place.

"I felt that we are in a really strong position and could we try and strengthen that position and stay there if we can," said Moyes. "I would hate to look back and think I hadn’t given that a go or made any attempt to do that.

"The squad has done brilliant to get where it has got to but it could do with one or two additions."

I'm torn between wanting us to go all out and try for 5th (4th has well gone now) or saying sod it and playing some of the kids for the experience and just finishing where we finish.

It'll be better for the long term if Barkley, Duffy etc get game time, especially as I'm expecting a culling of over the hill players in the summer. I also think that evening we did go all out for League position we'll fall short now anyway. I think yesterday will be a massive knock to the confidence and we'd need to beat all the teams around us, mostly away from home

I'd go with a new start mate the truth that's staring us all in the face is we'll do well to get 7th not that anything outside 4th is worth a toss anyway. Moyes time is up not because of yesterday but for playing Billy Big bollocks over his contract it's just made the rank and file say "I don't think so lad...". He's gonna have the same season as ever but he's dead in the water now, we need every minute to prep for next season.

Has he spent all week worrying about Wigan and transmitting that to our players?

The past history of these games says it's all wrong.

All I know is that we are Everton and in the build-up to the game, Moyes said if we can't get it done in one, we'll have to get it done in two. That's just so wrong for a home game. I can't imagine any top4 contenders speaking like that ahead of a home game against Wigan. Moyes always does this, making excuses in case we disappoint or pointing out how well (he has) Everton have already been doing since he's been here, etc etc.. He should join the board!

nothing to say those kids aren't good enough to achieve our league aim either. they deserve their chance after the way our first XI have performed lately

some-one just neg repped me 28 million points for saying Moyes should join the board. couldn't they just neg rep me for being born non-telepathic and not a mind-reader part of a secret society with superior intelligence. cos that's my fault too!

Neither can I, or any other side in the league.

Lads can we all agree that we will get together in a nudist resort if we finish in a Champions League place?

I'd be up for it to celebrate maintaining our PL status for another magical year.
