minimum 5th gets Europe...can we make it?

We mathematically get 4th still if we win all our games And spurs win 1 and draw 2 and loose 1 . I have them drawing chelsea And sunderland winning agaisnt southampton and loosing to stoke. Chelsea will have to draw to spurs loose to utd us and villa and beat swansea . This is still posible because chelsea have a fixture overload coming and spurs just look knackered were so lucky today
 

4th place is possible but the chances are 10,000 - 1.

Lets not think about 4th because we won't get it. It's very hard trying to get 5th because its not in our hands all we can do is chase and hope somebody slips up which at this end of the season is highly unlikely.
 
lets just suck the juice out of mathematical possibility.

I put 1-1 the derby, 2-0 win against West Ham and 3-1 loss to Chelsea. I had Arsenal and Chelsea both losing to United and Benitez's side beating Spurs. That saw us finish 6th, 8 points behind Spurs but 2 points ahead of Liverpool.

I've got Villa going down and Newcastle finishing in 17th.
 
6th looks nailed to be fair...something exceptional either way needs to happen for us to finish 5th or 7th.

Typical that it's just outside Europe...and double-typical if Liverpool again qualify ahead of us (as they did in 2005 & 2012 even tho' we finished above them...the former was an extraordinary exception they got gifted, given them a super-easy Champions League qualifier while we got Villareal...the latter because of Fair Play bollox...as might happen again).
 

Even the BBC are clueless:

A bit of a footnote to Chelsea's season is that should they win the Europa League, they will gain an extra place for English clubs presuming they qualify for Europe through their own league position.

I reckon wins over the sh!te and West Ham and we'l still be in with a shout of a top 5 finish going to Chelsea.

Only trouble is I don't see us winning them 2 games.

This thread is as dead as our season.


Once again we manage to finish just outside the possibility of European football.


6th is better than 7th, tho'...and we finished above the red team. But our football hasn't been great, we're missing a handful of quality players in our squad to push on. I expect Liverpool to strengthen in the summer, so next season will probably mean another battle for 6th place with them, as the 5 clubs above us are too strong. Maybe we'll manage a cup run to the quarters or something.

More of the same, basically.


Anyone else bored or is it just me?
 

will need the ultimate capitulations of all capitulations, its impossible to finish 4th because chelsea play spurs and if they draw there's no way we could overtake the gd of +33 chelsea have

we'd also need a draw to have a realistic chance of getting 5th, and even then we'd need to win our last 2 games and spurs to lose their remaining 2.
 
Spurs could easily and I think they will lose to Chelsea on Wednesday then it's down to 2 games, we win both and spurs lose both we there.

Unlikely but footballs a funny old game!
