David Moyes has hailed the impact of Mikel Arteta.
Since switching to central midfield, Arteta has had an increased influence on play and now has three goals in as many games - following his sensational free kick in the 2-0 win over Hull City.
After the victory over the Tigers, Moyes revealed the Spaniard's man of the match performance was all the more pleasing because of the illness that had affected him prior to the game.
"We’re glad he’s scoring some goals and playing as well as he had been," declared the manager.
"Mikel came in with a touch of flu, but we decided to put him in the warm-up, and thankfully he came through and put in a very good performance."
Arteta's goal, Everton's second, effectively sealed victory for the Toffees as Hull never looked like mounting a comeback.
The win means Everton have now kept six consecutive clean sheets ahead of big clashes with Liverpool (twice) and Arsenal later this month.
"I thought we kept Hull at bay and it was a good solid performance," continued Moyes.
"There was a period in the first half when it became quite tight but in the main, we passed it well and created opportunitites.
"I thought it was a good old-fashioned game of football.
"We thoroughly deserved the victory. All the games are important but the most important was today's.
"The players are playing well and there were lots of good performances."

He played well even with that.

He really is the best spaniard we know.

He's most definately back to his best. It really was a pleasure to watch him in the 'flesh' against Sunderland. Moving him to a central midfield position, seems to have done his confidence a world of good.

He's playing to a very high level, this is probably the best I've seen him play in a Blue shirt in all honesty. Outwide (on form) he was very classy and entertaining to watch, in the middle he's less flashy but twice as effective.

With him in the middle we are using the whole pitch, attacks are coming from both sides because of his ability to switch the play and dictate the tempo of the game. Defensively he offers alot aswell, 7 clean sheets in the last 8 games pretty much proves that. Thankfully the "Carsley is God" posts have stopped.:dodgy:

Keep it up Mikel.

Since going into the middle he's been [Poor language removed] superb. What a player, he really does run the show for us. Him an Fellaini are outstanding!!

remember him playing central for us when he was on loan, and was superb then. why did we ever switch him to the wings, one of his first games was against villa at their place and he absolutley ran the show, that's when everybody fell in love with him

my word to moyes..... keep him central, make us great(y)!!!!!!

by far the best little Spaniard we know. Just loved his little jig when he scored. Great to see him playing with a smile on his face!:D

I know Sunderland were poor but Arteta in midfield was probbaly one of the best performances in central midfield by any player in the prem this season.

That DVD is worth a place on the academy shelf to all budding central midfieldests.....
