David Moyes has hailed the impact of Mikel Arteta.
Since switching to central midfield, Arteta has had an increased influence on play and now has three goals in as many games - following his sensational free kick in the 2-0 win over Hull City.
After the victory over the Tigers, Moyes revealed the Spaniard's man of the match performance was all the more pleasing because of the illness that had affected him prior to the game.
"We’re glad he’s scoring some goals and playing as well as he had been," declared the manager.
"Mikel came in with a touch of flu, but we decided to put him in the warm-up, and thankfully he came through and put in a very good performance."
Arteta's goal, Everton's second, effectively sealed victory for the Toffees as Hull never looked like mounting a comeback.
The win means Everton have now kept six consecutive clean sheets ahead of big clashes with Liverpool (twice) and Arsenal later this month.
"I thought we kept Hull at bay and it was a good solid performance," continued Moyes.
"There was a period in the first half when it became quite tight but in the main, we passed it well and created opportunitites.
"I thought it was a good old-fashioned game of football.
"We thoroughly deserved the victory. All the games are important but the most important was today's.
"The players are playing well and there were lots of good performances."
He played well even with that.
He really is the best spaniard we know.
