2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

He was coming back to position and was keeping an eye on Fernandes. He was doing his job, Gueye should have been able to do something else.

Gueye had time, Mbuemo is between him and Keane but Mbuemo presses him and Gueye does his silly slide pass to nobody panicking under pressure.

There was no clear pass on to Keane so he wasn't expecting the lay off under panic from Gana and was in the middle of looking back to see where Fernandes was.
Yet Bruno rat face is twice as far from the ball as Keane when the pass is made. For 80k per week I expect better from Keane in that situation.

Personally would say he was lazily assuming his teammate would just hoof it clear. Keeping an eye on your opponent isn’t a necessary task when you’re the closest player to your teammate in possession. He’s only a threat if you don’t do your job with the ball first as Keane did.
I mean it's what Moyes would have told him to do in that situation rather than playing a dangerous pass under the press and gifting United a shot at goal.

When Gueye got the ball he had options and then invited the pressure from Mbuemo and coughed it up. Keane could have helped him but he's not responsible for the decisions Gueye made.

I guess if you take the view that Keane isn’t responsible for playing football then he can’t be at fault here. But then that’s a David Moyes side for you.

For a pro footballer not to be alert in that situation sorts the riff from the raff

And the pass still yards away from him even if he was looking.

If Gana actually passed it to him or made sure his teammate knew what he was going to do before he panicked under pressure then there'd be a case for blaming Keane. There really isn't.

It is not a case of Keane's side or Gana's side. Keane was absolutely on fire tonight. Gana has also been fantastic this season. Both are big big reasons why we're now ahead of that lot this season. Keep these performances up and Keane might have to cancel his summer holidays.

Not really sure why the player not being ready is the fault of the player passing it
It was a stupid pass, back I to the danger zone, when he had every opportunity to just clear the ball. It was Michael Keane, not John Stones he passed the ball to. Keane has strengths to his game, but, receiving the ball in situations like that is not one of them. Gueye has played with him long enough to know that. Keane has played with Gueye long enough not to have expected him to make that pass.
