Massively unsure why fans can’t just say when some of our lads have a good game, it was Young last time out and I thought Keane was superb today.

Tarkowski looks all over the place this year, you know it’s bad when Keane bails you out.

By the way, stating that Keane/Young/Doucoure have good games does not mean I rate them or that they’re the answer, just that they objectively played well 🤣.

Based on past experiences Don’t like him and he terrifies me but was close to MOM for me

This is exactly it.

Terrified out of my skin when he plays, don’t rate him at all. But, played really well today. That’s fine to admit.

Also fine to admit he’s clearly still a better choice than O’Brien for the situation we find ourselves in, until we’re in a better place/comfortable in games or at least comfy in the league it’s suicide to throw these kids into it.

No we shouldn't be having this conversation. Keane having 1 game where he plays better than tarkowski doesn't change the fact Keane is consistently a much much worse player than tarkowski.

I'll concede tarkowski does look a little out of sorts and especially today. But I thought he looked close to normal with Branthwaite last week.
Personally I think Tarkowski has been poor all season. We’re in a weird situation where when he plays badly with Keane people blame Keane but players should be accountable for their own performances and Tarky’s struggle to justify automatic selection.

Looked like a rabbit caught in headlights in the tunnel before the game. Had my heart in my mouth when his short header back to Pickford was almost intercepted early on but fair dues he had a good game and saved Tarkowski's bacon on a couple of occasions

Thought he was good still shcoks me how weak he is for the size of him feel like he should be stronger. Think been better than tarkowski all season if honest, his time is up here but did help today

I half agree with you. Tarkowski has been worse this season and should be held accountable for that.

However even though he's not been good this year, this is still the first time Keane has outperformed him. And even then Keane was lucky his weak back pass didn't result in a goal early in the game. Keane often compounds mistakes with more mistakes as he capitulates so that could have been the start of another disaster performance. But thankfully Pickford was on the ball and thankfully after that Keane was mostly solid and looked the more composed defender of the 2.

I do understand the angle that people blame Keane for others bad performance and that they shouldn't. Maybe a counter way to look at it is it's more that branthwaite is so good he lets others have an easier time and therefore they look better. Maybe he'd rub off on Keane the same way.

He was absolutely fine but we're lucky Newcastle had neither Isak or Wilson available, both of whom live scoring against Everton.

The major concern for me is how there are always incidents that happen when Keane and Tarkowski are partnered. Usually it's Keane as the liability, but now it's starting to look like Tarkowski's legs have gone.

I'm not sure why the manager is giving O'Brien the Patterson treatment, but I'd be looking at breaking up this current partnership asap even if Branthwaite is unavailable.

I agree, did they switch positions? Keane on the right hand side? I actually think Tarky has been a worst performer in the back line this season. Keane had his best game yesterday. Was a lot calmer with the ball too, although I had a few drinks yesterday so maybe I was watching a different game to everyone else 😂.
He showed a few up today - saved us a few times ....
