I`d expect a new deal would reflect the fact that he`d be here to fill a gap and that he`d be taking a huge pay cut. If he doesn`t like it that`s when we should look to pick up an experienced out of contract defender

I'm not saying I want us to keep Keane, God knows I've hoped for him to be punted pretty much every day for the last 6/7 years, but he is one where I can kind of see how it might end up making sense to keep him another year.

I am not sure he would be chasing first team football given his age and experience. He is not hoping to get back in the national team so really it is a question of where does he see out his playing days and earn the most money. I would not be surprised to see him stay for one year on less pay because of injuries in our back four. Regardless of his situation I think we will still be looking for a younger CB this window but it is not a top top priority if he stays.

yes but if we sign say a 22 year old promising youngster at 4th choice, they’ll cost a small fee but wages will be a lot lower, and they will likely be sold for a higher price or become a key member of the side, a la Stones and Branthwaite

Genuinely has no clue where he is on the pitch or what he should be doing. See ball, hoof ball. If an attacker gets in the way and it’s a pen well then there’s always another 70k at the end of the week.

Surely he has to go. His legs went years ago, the game is too quick for him at this level, hence why he costs so many goals as he can't re-adjust his feet quick enough.

For year Everton have signed mediocre and kept mediocre while struggling to keep anyone fit. Hopefully the new owners have recognised that and it's the start of a new approach.

I don't mind it not being cheaper if it's a more reliable player. As I regularly tell my wife "you don't have to buy it just because it's cheap".

We'll surely be able to pick up a centre half on loan who can come in as a backup option and who earns a quarter of what Keane does. As we see with Keane, even though he's now fourth choice he's still played plenty of games this season.

I'd like us to utilise our loan slots on a centre half as backup, a striker if possible on a deal similar to Alcaraz and a central midfielder either Mangala if he's fit within the next 3-4 months or similar player.

Save the real money for a starting striker, right winger and a set of full backs.
