2024/25 Michael Keane

I'd give him another 12 months

Good backup. He’s shown he’s still capable.

Personally I think he has some confidence issues, when he’s good he’s very good, but when he’s bad he’s atrocious.
The absolute shambles of the last few years and the turnover of managers I think has been really detrimental to him.
I genuinely think Moyes (and I’m not his biggest fan) would get the best out of him.

Think he would be a decent squad player and I’d be quite happy to see him stay under Moyes.
Remember these comments when he costs us a game next season.

Learnt nothing if that’s the case

….i’d have never thought I’d be saying this but the contract situation is such a mess (I think I read 10 players involved today are out of contract next season), that we can’t replace them all.

As I posted in the ‘squad analysis’ thread, Moyes has got a tune out of this group that puts us up there. He’ll be thinking the base isn’t that bad if he can add real quality in 4 or 5 positions. What I also like is contract offers the club won’t shift from, so if Keane is here I think it’ll be in keeping with his position as a squad player.

It’ll only be short-term, 2 years max.

I dont want him starting ffs, just on the bench! 😅

Besides, I’ll be digging it out of the vaults when he scores his annual 25 yard rasper.
If he's in the squad he'll play some games. If he plays games he'll cost us points. It's what he does. Not every game, but over the course of a season. The odd goal doesn't make up for it. He's dreadful, he's got to go. He won't, but he should.

2 more years of bricking it every time Michael Keane comes on and destabilises the entire defense. Great.

Mate he’s a liability, eight years we have had of this, for every decent game he has there are five terrible ones and yeah you’re right the contract situation is messed up but what’s the point in filling it with mediocrity.

It’s why I don’t understand there is demand for us to sign Peters from Southampton, he’s 28 and not going to improve us

We seem to be stuck in this cycle of a step forward and two back all the time and always problems/excuses.

There’s absolutely nothing more we’ll get out of him & the blokes been a liability for years. Time to move on.

Get a younger replacement in, cheaper wages & hopefully a replacement for Branthwaite.
