2024/25 Michael Keane

I don’t understand why he’d want to stay. Never gonna be first choice and should surely want to be playing regularly somewhere at his age.

….some are happy being bit part players, just as he has been for a few seasons. Family settled, training everyday without the pressure earning a very nice wedge. They’re all different characters, he might be perfectly happy with more of the same.

I think he’ll be offered a new deal and I suspect he’ll accept if it’s 2 years.

I will never understand footballers who are happy / content not to play .

If I was Keane I'd be looking for another club , probably newly promoted where he is going to play most weeks.

I can't imagine that he will be on more money as 4 th choice at Everton than as a starter at say Leeds.

….and it might be the case with Keane but I wouldn’t be surprised if he accepts a deal with us.

It's the case for most goalies isn't it!? They have to be OK with it and have a lot of patience.

Players that are happy to fill out a squad a very important these days

Because footballers are employees and like other lines of work, there will be some lazy employees. There's this in-built view of footballers that they are all passionate about their craft and would accept being paid less but work harder. Some will want maximum £ for the least amount of effort that they can get by on.

Not saying this applies to Keane btw.

I’d rather be a bit part player for a major club than a regular for a rubbish team. Especially when you consider you are less likely to get injured as a squad man.
