The problem is he has no spine. When there's no pressure, he looks ok. He gets picked off the back of training sessions. As soon as there's the pressure of matchday, he folds.

I think at the core he's shown that he can be a decent enough player. But his mentality just isn't there and Everton just isn't the right club for him. He's better off at a club like Burnley where you're not expected to do well.

Spot on, hence why he was so good during Covid, no crowds, less pressure, Holgate copes in a different way, when crowds on his back he puts that surly, cocky attitude on to make it look it don't bother him.

100% I’d add that he also had some of his best games with no fans in the stadium.

Clearly he struggles mentally under pressure, which is a real shame for him but sadly will always prevent him from reaching his top potential.
