Knee jerk player of the week.

Has been a good CB in recent weeks, certainly less erratic than Mina. Yes he cost us a goal but has been better than you are all making out. Not spectacular but solid and did what was asked.

If we start Mina next week you will all be back on the Keane+Zouma pairing the following day.
Actually think the exact opposite. The knee jerking has all come from people who were so quick to decide he had improved massively and was now a top centre half when at his absolute best I would class him as 'OK'. He lacks so many things that prevent him from being a quality centre half, but every time he has a game where he just has to head things away and make the odd block people come on and say he was wonderful. He's painfully average, nothing more and nothing less.

Until the last game he had not put a foot wrong in ages. I agree his headers could be a but more decisive but he has actually been playing the ball out and with confidence. We know he is not going to be the greatest but he has been good and everyone jumping on him as soon as he makes an error - very everton.

Sorry but that's absolute tripe. He was horrific against Spurs, absolutely horrific. He lost Tarkowski to gift a great chance against Burnley. He was OK in general against Brighton. So 'not put a foot wrong wrong in ages' translates to about 3 days. Great. It seems that if he isn't directly responsible for us conceding a goal you class it as a good game, forgive me if I expect a little more from our players.

Fair shout, I didn't see the Spurs game (thank god). I just think he has looked much better but still gets grief.

If we are looking to challenge for EL at least, there is the reason why he shouldn't be in the starting eleven, ever.

He was having a decent hame up til their goal, after that he went back to the Keane from last year. Hopefully he can put it behind him
This is the problem though, he made a mistake then went to pieces. Against Spurs Pickford and Zouma run into each other and the defence, including Keane, fall were terrified to be on the ball. Anybody can make a mistake, the real test is how you respond to that mistake and Keane is usually found wanting, he's mentally weak.

Yep

Burnley fan in work never actually rated him

I hate this, he was very very good for Burnley and in his last season he was getting linked with big moves to quite a few clubs. We got in early and got him. But, after an error and a pretty poor season in a pretty poor team under pretty poor managers, your mate the Burnley fan says he never ever rated him! Brilliant. Perhaps we should get this mate on our list of scouts as he’s seen something a hell of a lot of other scouts haven’t.

There are quite a few players who look half decent in a team set-up that suits their playing style, move on to a different club and system and today's Premier League coaches will pick your weaknesses out in quicker than Keane can turn to a ball played over his head. There are teams that he'd look decent in and would suit his style, just not us.
