Obviously hope he’s ok & recovers well, but from a match perspective, it almost seemed like nobody wanted that 6 minutes of injury time. It was like there was little interest in continuing the match.
Seeing someone hurt like that takes a toll on all.
I think the rah rah captain thing people seem to want is kind of ridiculous but this time I was expecting to see Baines get the team together and talk about finishing it out right. Don’t think that happened at all but you only see what they show you on the television. Needed some leadership at that moment though.

Unfortunately a concussion like that lingers for a while. I don’t think he should return until after the international break. Give Zouma a chance to start now and gives Holgate a reprieve as I think he would of been the one to make way for either Mina or Zouma especially based on today’s performance

Or not. Concussions are tricky, you never really know. If that's all it is, with proper treatment he'll recover 100% and be fine, but never know how long that might be.

Should be fine. Given that he was on Instagram some 8 hours ago (Unless it was his agent)?

Nothing necessarily to do with Keane but thats not absolutely correct , post concussion can be a massive long term issue . It’s relatively rare that it’ll continue long term and a host of other factors are usually contributory but the effects of head injuries are still something of a puzzle to neurologists. That’s without going into the world of CTE , which is is currently receiving huge amounts of publicity and is still heavily being researched. There is a wealth of research going on across the field and if you’re somebody that’s suffered a serious injury you can suffer a variety of effects and be significantly at risk of other brain issues.

Like I say I’m not talking out Keane but it’s an area I know a little bit about .

I’d be surprised if it turned out to be anything too serious. He got a couple of blows to the head and fell unconscious. He’ll probably have a week or so off and then be back in training.

He'll definitely be out until then, i think that's normal procedure now, it certainly would be in rugby union (and probably league), most major sports now take head injuries including concussion very seriously, having their own set procedures to follow regarding any return.

The recent publicity over Jeff Astle and other former players, some like Jeff, now dead having suffered in later life from the consequences of head trauma, perhaps largely contributed to by just heading the ball so often, has brought the whole subject to the fore in football.
