Can’t believe the pressure these lads are under going out the door every morning

I think it's fair there's some pressure to do the job correctly, but the way the dregs of society behave and how they have to deal with them with such a lack of resources staggers me, I wouldn't be doing it.

Of course the officer was afraid. He didn't put himself in that situation though, he was required to be. I'm a huge supporter of rehabilitation, working to help people break out of crime and gangs etc, but in this scenario there was a clear and present danger, and there were multiple opportunities for the criminal to make this all stop. It's a terribly sad ending for all involved, but justice, though cruelly, was served. I'm of the same opinion as you that police should be under extreme scrutiny in their line of work, and I feel this passed the test.

Fantastic tautology to be concerned about somebody being “shot, injured or potentially killed” with the solution to that being to shoot and kill somebody.

The decision to stop the car was due to the risk - you've agreed to this point. There are hundreds of hard stops every year in the country, if not more.

In these incidents, how many shootings occur? In this case, did the officers shoot immediately? Could it not be the case that, all things considered, the shooting...

... tragic shooting occurred not because of the tactic, but rather as a response to the actions of the driver in trying to flee in the manner he did?

As I've said before, they are not mutually exclusive to each other: doing one (the hard stop) did not automatically result in the other occurring.

My 'narrow way of thinking' stems from the belief that facts matter more than feelings. If you could let me know where my narrow-mindedness is wrong, please let me know.

Fact is: Police respond to AMPR on a car linked to gun crime - safe to assume driver is armed. Police issue order to exit the car, driver attempts to flee by ramming a police car with officers in the way, tantamount to assault with a deadly weapon. Armed officers use appropriate force to null the threat. All facts.

Armed officers don't carry guns to look cool.

As for my trans beliefs, as I said before - I couldn't care less what anyone does in the comfort of their own home, just don't bring your perversions to me and expect me to affirm them. Also don't expect me to unlearn biology because it hurts your feelings.

I don't think that's unreasonable.

I agree with your last point. I also agree that the actions that were taken by the driver were a contributing factor in his shooting.
I remain unconvinced of the necessity to shoot him. The court decided otherwise. There we are.
