Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning everyone,

I continue to be astonished at the people camping out and in pouring rain just to watch a coffin being driven past. Genuinely I'm not being disrespectful, I just find it bizarre . I wouldn't even do that to watch an Everton open top bus parade. Its bad enough having to queue for an hour to get through airport security to go on holiday. And queuing for 30 hours to walk past a coffin ? Bonkers.

I honestly don't understand that level of adoration ( and for someone they have never met ) does that say more about me than them , I don't know.

Anyway , we have workies here today and then I start my table tennis season with a match tonight.

How long is @Barnfred 55 holiday? He seems to have visited every island in the Med and been away for 3 weeks!

Good morning everybody. Lazy day Wednesday today. I'm still in bed! Took Mr F to work at 6.30 and decided I needed more sleep. Been catching up on news and social media for the last hour. I'm with you @jazzy I've been trying to think of something I would willingly queue up for 30 hours for. Everton? I love you but no. Springsteen? I love you but no. I haven't thought of anything yet and doubt if I will. On the subject of queuing, my Mum once persuaded me to queue up on Boxing Day for her outside a furniture shop in Bold Street ( Wareing and Gillow maybe? Something like that) because she had her eye on a much reduced 3 piece suite. I got there at 4.30am...and was second in the queue! Shortly before the store opened Mum arrived, took over queuing duties and got her suite. The people in front of us wanted a different item so all parties were happy.

Not much planned for today. Meeting a friend for coffee later. She's an amazing lady. Someone I truly look up to. On 23 December 2018 her 8 year old grandson passed away from neuroblastoma ( the same thing Bradley Lowrey had) The family had been fundraising to raise money for him to go to Barcelona to take part in a trial of new treatment. He had been accepted on the trial but sadly passed away before it started. The family set up a foundation in his memory with the money raised and it is doing great things. My friend left work ( that's how I met her, I started my job on the same day she did) and now administers the charity. I've rambled on way too much. I think James Joyce had a name for it - stream of consciousness! Have a lovely day all x

In answer to your / my question Ange - the only thing I would ever queue / wait for was something to do with my wife's or mum's well being.

I once waited ( not queued ) admitedly 7 hours to to see my wife's cardiac surgeon to discuss her health. Worth every minute.

I thought of that after I posted. If it was to save/protect a close family member then definitely. I don't think you immediately associate things like that in this context because it's a given.

I planted a few of these small blue and white bedding plants in Spring and they have now come to their time as seasons change. Will they come back next year if I just remove the dead plant above ground and leave the roots or are they just a once off plant?

Morning all almost 3 am here in NZ can’t sleep won’t sleep for some reason .
I’ve been down here for almost 3 months I think I’m missing my home sand my friends more than I expected
Don’t get me wrong after 3 years enforced absence through covid travel restrictions it was absolutely necessary to connect fully with my grandchildren of 11 and 13 years but now it’s time to go back to Spain
I’ve missed building guitars and painting dodgy artwork but most of all I’ve missed the people and the life I’ve built in just a couple of years of living in Andalusia
Ok enough drivel ,,,, I have Sharpes Rifles on the audio book player that will help me nod off

The blue ones look like Lobelias which are considered a tender perennial, so they might grow back depending on how cold it gets. The white ones look familiar, I'll see if I can look those up.
