Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Mission accomplished. I found a dress for the do that I can also take on holiday with me. Also some very much reduced shorts, summer trousers and tops ( end of season sale 70% off) so all is good. Was soooo tempted by denim dungarees but had to give myself a good talking to and remind my self that a) it is not the 1980s b) I am not a size 10 c) I am older than the age of 4 and d)I am not a member oF Dexy's Midnight Runners. As a bonus I bumped into a work colleague while I was out so had a coffee and a catch up with her.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked that Chelsea have sacked Tuchel. I know they have got new owners and haven't had a great start but wow! Especially after letting him spend £250m or something like that in the just closed transfer window.
Didn’t have dungarees but I went to a wedding in the 70’s wearing a yellow maxi dress with a bib and brace top lol. If I find the photo I’ll post it, should give you all a good laugh. Enjoy the wedding.

When I think of some of the things I wore late 70s and then 80s it was ridiculous. I had a massive white flowy shirt teamed with skin tight electric blue trousers and the obligatory white shoes and handbag. It was like a cross between Spandau Ballet and Olivia Newton John!

A Crawfish boil is serious good food. We served it up in beer trays.

@mezzrow knows
spreads newspaper out on table in back yard, fills #3 washtub with beer and ice. Pinch the tail first and observe for further details...

Do y'all get rock shrimp up in Carolina? When I was a kid they sold for nothing out at Mayport (well 39 cents a pound) and that was the choice. That was before they farmed mudbugs and made them ubiquitous. We got good at shuckin' those boys and the results look like this (see between the shrimp and the corn)... Pinky lobster.

Gimme a jug of melted garlic butter to pour all over that and I'd jump in head first! ??

I'm a voracious reader at the best of times even more so on holiday . However , that's usually when we are chilling on a beach and this time we are going to spend our time exploring with trips to Amalfi / Positano , Capri , Ischcia and of course Pompeii . So I think I will cut back from the usual 5 books a week to 3 . Kindle , I hear you say - no thanks. For the same reason that I don't stream music and have retained my record and CD collection , I prefer the real thing - after all "I can't get by without you "

I couldn’t agree more about a Kindle just not being able to replace the smell and feel of a book but jazzy my man you must get into streaming music. I only started doing it during Lockdown and it changed everything for me. Trust me, you only thing you have a decent music collection until you get to access absolutely everything with a couple of clicks of a button.

Add in that it is saving me hundreds of pounds per year and there is really no negative.

Unfortunately my reading has gone for a ball of chalk but I’ll tell you once I moved to a kindle I was hooked.. the biggest draw for me:
Once I had found a comfortable position in my bed I didn’t need to shift to turn the page or read the opposite side.. I could just keep reading with my head on the pillow. Was bliss.
