When Rover announced they were ceasing production of the SD1 - around 1986 - a number of English police forces bought up as many of the V8s as they could.I did, and now I want to become an English police woman ? ?
I had a p6b and it was so easy to work on ,a long time ago now but I still remember it was Corsica blue as you can guess I needed to repair the back wings near the doors , lovely car . My present car is my 54th and the Rover along with a Scimitar are the fondest memories .If I had invested the money I have spent on cars .......When Rover announced they were ceasing production of the SD1 - around 1986 - a number of English police forces bought up as many of the V8s as they could.
If you watch 1980s English police programmes, the SD1 is their car of choice. Really lovely to drive but usually some minor matter to be dealt with outside the engine bay. The Buick V8 is bullet proof. Before 76 they tended to favour the Rover P6 and P6B - B was the Buick V8
In 2006 I bought a 1970 P5B but it was a complete basket case. Body was really bad and then the transmission went. I called it a day and scrapped her. Just chasing a convertible in an auction so wish me luck.
That's amazing. What a brave girl. The difference in the X rays is astonishing - but also shows how big the surgery was.She was so brave Sass. The consultant told her there was a one in 500 chance the surgery would leave her paralysed. A small chance, but still a possibility. There was another girl having the same op the same day, who was on her third attempt after backing out of the previous two at the last minute.
Afterwards, when a nurse asked her to wiggle her toes and whether she could feel her prodding her feet, I've never felt relief like it. Left me feeling almost dizzy.
I was so proud of her. She was only 12.
For law enforcement the only cars to have are the 3.0S Ford Capris as used by Bodie and Doyle ? ?When Rover announced they were ceasing production of the SD1 - around 1986 - a number of English police forces bought up as many of the V8s as they could.

For traffic or specialist units yes - that or a Sierra or Senator from the mid 80s to 90s. The issue with an SD1 was the brakes were fluffin' dreadful. When Rover announced they were ceasing production of the SD1 - around 1986 - a number of English police forces bought up as many of the V8s as they could.

In terms of the Liver Run, post 7/7 a Merpol Volvo S80 did a run from Liverpool to Central London run in less than two hours - work out the average speed!
Twas a Friday - the day after. Early morning with the help of a rolling road block, for other reasons, meaning the S80 did a good stretch of the M40 topped out. What time of the day and what day?
The Liver Run was a Friday afternoon crossing central London. 179 miles in two hours on a Friday is some going thoughTwas a Friday - the day after. Early morning with the help of a rolling road block, for other reasons, meaning the S80 did a good stretch of the M40 topped out.
It sometimes pops up on ITV 4. It has not aged well! However Lewis Collins is just as cool as I remembered and the Capris are still as gorgeous.I wish they would show The Professionals, and Minder again - loved Fools and Horses but flipping hell it is just shown over and over.
I would still prefer my Mark 1 SD1 3500 to a Capri, although they were also a design classic.
Some very tasty New Avengers cars also including SD1s

Didn't one of the New Avengers have a TR7?
Those are some stylish cars!
