Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Which side of the fence do you sit LT?. I think Glasgow is probably the only place where you aren't allowed to actually sit ON the fence :)

There's been a lot of Gers fans join the forum lately with Patterson signing.
I don't support Celtic so much as I dislike Rangers for so many reasons, my Grandson's are into Celtic so I'll be hoping they win for them, my.best mate up here is a Ger, and he's a pain in the arse when they lose?
This one is too close to call, I just hope it's action packed as it's the first one I'm watching live on the TV for some time.
You watching it Fred? If so who will you get behind?
BTW Celtic were my favourite subbuteo strip?

We badly needed bodies in midfield, so Alli and VDB are welcome additions, although both are a bit of a risk. Alli had one really good season about 5 years ago and has been a bit meh since, but maybe Lampard can revitalise him. VDB hasn't set the world on fire at Man U, but he hasn't been played much.

I'd have liked a DM and a CB, but I actually think Allan could be a good DM if he kept his discipline and curbed his tendency to charge forward chasing the ball, allowing teams to bypass him. Doucoure could also play DM when he's back. Many would prefer to give him license to play more in the final third, but his passing isn't great and hopefully our new midfielders can take on that role.

Our best CB is Mina, but he's often injured. Godfrey hasn't been the same since he caught covid and Holgate has been woeful. Keane can play really well or really badly. I'm hoping Lampard will play Branthwaite, who I rate.
I don't think Alli was a one season wonder BTS. You forget how long he's been at Spurs and how young he burst on the scene. In his first 3 seasons he got over 20 goals/assists per season. His last 2 seasons under Poch were curtailed by injury but even in his last he got 8 goals and 4 assists from 25 games, many of which were from the bench. Plus he was a guaranteed starter for England for 3 years. He had 37 caps by the time he was 22 which compares well with all the young starlets we have today. Having said that, it is a risk in so far as we don't know whether he can recapture that form. But if he doesn't, the financial aspect of the deal seems to negate a large part of that risk. It would be interesting to hear what his salary is. As far as I'm aware nothing has been leaked on that yet. There is a player in there though if Lampard can get it out of him. As regards VDB, it's a loan so no real risk, He looked a player at Ajax. Both of them score goals from midfield which is something we have been lacking since Fellaini left.

I'm not sure how often we'll see both of them in a starting line up as part of a midfield 3 although I think VDB is quite versatile going by his Ajax days. I think Frank will want to have more ball possession, which i don't mind as long as we're productive with it and don;t end up like Martinez mark II. What it does give us is more options and, provided Mykolenko and Patterson can get up to speed fairly quickly, it gives us a nucleus of around 15 players that most will be happy to see in the starting XI or coming off the bench.

Fully agree on Branthwaite by the way, and I think he will get more game time under Frank.

TBH mate I'm not really into Scottish football. Last time I really watched it was when Gazza was up there but that was because I was a Gazza fan. I suppose I'd normally follow Gers because historically there's been a connection with Everton players going both ways, pun not intended lol . But Gerrard going there put a stop to that so it really doesn't bother me anymore.

Agree totally BTS, good post.

Bit of a drama at my house this afternoon. Came into the kitchen to find water all over the floor which seemed to be coming from the washing machine in the utility room. Well panic stages. What do I do?. Well, phone the neighbours of course. Luckily they were in and came around mob handed. Turns out the door seal was broken and I need a new washer. They're going to help me take the old washer down to the tip and said to give them a shout when the new one turns up and they'll come and plumb it in for me. In the meantime, the wife has taken my half finished washing to dry spin and return later. I suppose I am quite fortunate really. ;) But it looks like I've already used up my favour bank for the heating being off. lol

Forgot to add, my.mate is a lighting engineer and set up their 'Disco ' light show which entertains the crowd there, they know he's a Ger but look after him well on the couple of occasions he's been back to tweak things, they may well broadcast the light show tonight, it is quite spectacular. I hope we have a similar set up at BMD.

Good morning folks. Hope everyone is well and safe.

It's raining here again boooo but fairly mild. Does anyone wish to swap heads I am sick to the back teeth of bloody headaches, they're kicking my arse at the minute. I'm going to have to chase up the pain clinic for my injections.

Hope the Job interview went well @Sassy Colombian I'm sure you knocked it out of the park as the 'Muricans say.

Have a great day everyone, chat later.
If I could I would swap heads with you, dear. I know you are not going to like hearing this but I hardly ever get any head aches so I could I would take some of your pain so you could have some relied. I hope they stop kicking your arse soon because you don't deserve it. xx

Hahaha, I sure I hope I knocked them out of the park. We will see if I did in a few weeks.

Oh disaster. What a nightmare. Was there anything damaged by the water?

Good morning all .I hope all slept well .and I know @Sassy Colombian will have done enough .
So sorry to hear @NeroCeasar my aunt ,my uncle and my grandma all had it ,the better news is that my aunt was many years after and she was treated and it slowed the process down a lot as @Barnfred 55 says .
In the village I was living last there was a doctor whose job was alzheimers research and she told me a few years ago that they are on the brink of a discovery of much better treatment .So let us all hope it comes soon .
I hope we all have a special day today and stay safe .
Awe, thanks for the confidence @blue1948 I really think I gave it my best, I was committed to having a good performance and spent many hours getting prepared for this interview. I also have a lot of institutional knowledge because of my current job so I really hope the committee offers me the position but if they don't then other opportunities will come my way and it won't be the end of the world either.
