Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Well no I am certainly not fluent although I understand most conversations I am not so good speaking ,I do though sometimes shock my wife when I talk to strangers . The tyre fitter enabled me to talk cars in English , a chat which would have gone in one ear and out the other with my wife ,although in fairness she is fantastic listener . The thing is that most Finns below 50 are reluctant English speakers until you get them started ! Also being English speaking makes them want to show off despite their initial comment " I don't speak so well English " just to impress all around . Nowadays kids in primary school learn English and with their gaming / computers are fluent by a very young age ,sadly with an American twang .
That was very much as I expected, the Northern Europeans I’ve found are often keen to try out their English, are happy to converse and don’t take it as a slight if you can’t speak their language, unlike the French. Japan was probably my most difficult linguistic experience, a difficult language to learn , surprisingly few English speakers but fortunately impeccably polite.

Morning all, still hyped. Even if it doesn't work out, I can say I was there:

Faith in my own (young) people restored quite a bit.

Sadly now the political propaganda is starting - the national TV's and the people we protested against already started the fake scenes as soon as last night, but this time we're prepared and Gen Z doesn't watch TV, luckily, and even more luckily are very outspoken and well connected.

Hope restored, also, in a way :)
Mate I’ve tried searching your posts for a previous one but I’m missing something, can you explain what this post is all about?

I am not racially predjudiced but the French are a one off ,just the slightest mispronunciation and they don't like it ,I also play games online and they never say hello when others do ,even when greeted in French .
Finnish is said to be the hardest language for a Brit to learn using the same letters because the structure is so alien to us and they have senses we don't -just to cofuse me !

Yeah it's a bit out of nowhere in the grand scheme of things, sorry! The hype was still holding me hahah

It's a mass protest in Sofia against the current government leaders as they're corrupt as all hell, as well as against the budget they proposed that will make taxes and cost of living higher just as the Euro rolls in on 01.01.26.

Sources vary and I can't really gauge it well despite being there but at the very least 100 to 150k people gathered in the capital, and there were protests in many other smaller cities varying from 5k to 30k. Biggest protests since the ones that took the government down in the 90s

The budget proposition was retracted and will be reviewed again, but I don't think this will be the last protest for the foreseeable.

I'm sorry but that's absolutely untrue. An incredibly unfair stereotype of the French.

We had a holiday home in Charente Maritime for 12 years.

It was in a tiny village 5 miles from the coast. My French is ok but grammar and tenses are a problem for me and my neighbours and everyone we met were unfailingly polite and forgiving of my attempts to speak French and in butchering their lovely language.

Thanks for that, I had a quick look at what the Sofia Globe was writing, interesting stuff

Great second half today, KDH was outstanding I like that fact he played in the middle of the midfield with Tim, it gave him more space to run at them , he doesn’t get that much space and room when playing the number 10.

Happy with the display, Beto should start the next game he did well we he came on
It would be good to see Beto and alcaraz together- from what I can remember he seems to play the kind of forward balls that Beto can run onto. KDH is proving to be a bit of a gem isn’t he.

Well not stereotypical if it is my own experience but a different take is what this thread lives on ,no problem .

Good morning all on this brighter day although the weather is dull. I hope all had a good night after the match and go on to have a great day today . It looks like Tim was unwell against Newcastle as he was superb last night .Such a shame he won't be available for Saturday as that is now a big problem for Davey boy ,I hope he gets an early Xmas present of a magician's hat and wand .
Have a great day all COYB

Hello all. I hope you are all OK. It's a foggy miserable day today. I've got this month's parish council meeting tonight at 6.30 so I've already cooked our tea - herby pork parpadelle pasta. I love parpadelle pasta - it's like giant tagliatelle!
Ive done some Christmas shopping but I'm feeling a bit stressed. No decs up yet. Possibly this weekend depending how hungover I am on Sunday after my visit to Liverpool. Between working, childminding and what appears to be a social life ( three Christmas events and two more visits to Liverpool) I feel like I'm running out of time. I also need hair and nails doing which will involve a new hairdresser- I'm not going back to Nacho's former owner.
How good was last night's win. I do love Jack and hope we buy him. 21 points already! That's amazing after the last few seasons.
Hope you all have a good evening. I may log back on later and thrill you with Parish Council business!

Enjoyed last night's win .

Hardly free flowing football but negated a decent team away from home and with a proper CF would have won 3-0 .

Typical Moyes team display .

We struggle when the opposition allow us to have the ball and need to be creative.

Happy enough to allow Moyes to pick up points until the end of the season and then make an assessment.

Suspect it might be a good time to change direction to then

Can you see enough momentum building to actually topple the government?

You are a definite fan of Tim and last night showed me why. Confidence doesn’t seem to be lacking and he played a key role in that win.
