Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I would be the one with the paper hat on from a cracker when sharing a festive meal with you šŸ˜€

I have learned over the years that Christmas means different things to different people but so does everything. It remains an exciting time for me and I fully embrace it as much today as I ever did.

This evening I will have my outside lights on for the first time and my 3 trees lit up inside. The blue and white tinsel adorns my picture frames and my festive candle is already working it’s magic.

Friday sees my first Christmas dinner but it is a more formal type sadly. Still, I will hopefully make good company while being so envious of the other tables with Christmas jumpers and party hats šŸŽ…
I’m with you on this one, I still get very excited for Christmas in spite of all the Christmas deaths our family has experienced. I love the lights, the trees, and it’s 100 times more special this year with our Cis. Our lights are up inside and out and I’ve got a cute little candle display on my fireplace. It’s magical and extra lovely for people who have faith like yourself and my daughter in law.

Faith is a big part of building the enjoyment but it’s also that people around you just seem to be in better moods anyway. Alcohol probably does help that in fairness šŸ˜€

This is a house on the main road near where I live which was lit up tonight . It costs the guy four grand to run it for the six weeks it’s up and he pays this plus gives all donations to the local children’s ward - an unbelievable guy and loads of people go to see it. The spirit of Christmas.

Good morning all on this yet dark here one in HyvinkƤƤ. I hope all are well and have had their spirits lifted by the talk of the festivities . The car tyre fitting went well yesterday and the guy who i dealt with actually turned up to fit them ,a young man in his early twenties who shares the company with his father ,he made such an impression on me notwithstanding the fact he allowed me to " help " though he might shine a different light on that !
I found him to be very easy to talk to and a very good listener ( ask Fred )with respect and courtesy .Sadly that is noteworthy in these times and nowhere near as common as it could be ,somewhere down the line he has had good parentage and has the willingness to listen and learn .
I am finding that if you can teach someone a small thing that helps it is something you have achieved and ultimately it will survive you as few of us leave a foot print behind outside our families .
Have a great day all COYB

There are some really good people out there. Brilliant picture!

Imagine living next door, you'd never get any sleep.
Totally inconsiderate.
Bah humbug šŸ˜‚

That has crossed my mind tbh - not sure what time they go off either. It also causes a bit of congestion sometimes on the road but hey it’s only for a few weeks. There’s a little route of houses like this across the town that you can do - you should try it šŸ˜‚ - loads of excited kids, Wigan, and Christmas- it sounds right up your street šŸ˜‰šŸŽ…šŸ˜‚

Every day you see people running about with no time to spare but ultimately chasing an imaginary finishing line. It always remains out of reach in the foreground like the mountains in the old racing car video games, never getting any closer despite your best efforts. It is this infernal rat race that has made people forget how to connect with those around them. As a more eloquent person described it than me, the lost art of conversation.

Morning all, rain has cleared and it’s a bright morning. Mr G. is off for his monthly meet-up with his old gits group so I’m allowed out to play on my own. HMV have just opened up again in town so I’m off to get Harry’s Christmas presents. He’s developed an interest in vinyl records and is keen to add to his collection. Two things :When did they stop being L.P’s and the first LP I bought was Ā£1/17/6 one on his list is Ā£39.99. Dear God I’m old!!!!🤣
Have a good day, allšŸ’™

Morning all, still hyped. Even if it doesn't work out, I can say I was there:

Faith in my own (young) people restored quite a bit.

Sadly now the political propaganda is starting - the national TV's and the people we protested against already started the fake scenes as soon as last night, but this time we're prepared and Gen Z doesn't watch TV, luckily, and even more luckily are very outspoken and well connected.

Hope restored, also, in a way :)

Records really are my thing G ( Freds getting into them too).

I never buy brand new records. I much prefer to buy 2nd hand old ones .

The pressings and sound quality are much better and generally they are far cheaper.

However you have to check for condition. Anything even with a tiny scratch is rejected. If it is dirty , that's not a problem, I clean all my records anyway.

My 16 year old nephew has just got into "vinyl" as the hipsters call it ( personally I thought vinyl was some sort of sexual fetish but you live and learn šŸ˜‚)and I've had great fun shopping record stores and putting together an extra Xmas present of about 15 LPs for him.

Remarkably he's into the Beatles and Jazz ( and he's never even browsed my record collection!)

Have you ever watched Yorkshire auction house it is Ryedale auctions in real life and they often have record collections for sale . I know no more than that they do split into lots .

I’m curious blue, are you a fluent Finnish speaker or do you have some conversations, like with your young tyre fitter, in English?

Well no I am certainly not fluent although I understand most conversations I am not so good speaking ,I do though sometimes shock my wife when I talk to strangers . The tyre fitter enabled me to talk cars in English , a chat which would have gone in one ear and out the other with my wife ,although in fairness she is fantastic listener . The thing is that most Finns below 50 are reluctant English speakers until you get them started ! Also being English speaking makes them want to show off despite their initial comment " I don't speak so well English " just to impress all around . Nowadays kids in primary school learn English and with their gaming / computers are fluent by a very young age ,sadly with an American twang .

I'm loving it mate. 7th visit tomorrow (including 2 test events and the cup game) and we have already been in all four sides of the ground. We also have tickets for the Forest game.
Unfortunately the stupid 8PM K.O. time means that we will have to miss the Arsenal match due to prior arrangements. :dodgy:
Unlike yourself we are very lucky in that it's just a short drive. It is of course further to walk once I've parked than Goodison was, but that's not a problem.
Arrangements changed. ;) Just managed to get 2 seats together on the resale site.
