Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

At mine I do all the lifting the boxes from the attic, torn to shreds on the holly bushes but yet I still take my instructions from an Artistic Director..
Yep, same here . We’ve had a 7 foot artificial Christmas tree for many years, my job is to assemble , make sure all the branches are properly fluffed out , step away and leave the Artistic Director to decorate it . A household of perfect harmony, each knowing their role šŸ‘.

Morning all, after a beautiful day yesterday it’s back to wind and rain again. We arrived home from our walk yesterday to find a card and chocolates from our neighbours thanking us for being such good neighbours and to say they are leaving. It wasn’t a complete surprise as the ā€œFor Rent ā€œ board went up last week. They arrived from Romania as newly-weds with limited English, now four years later, fluent in the language and with a lovely three year old daughter it’s time for them to move on. I can honestly say they have been the best neighbours we have ever had even sharing food parcels which had been sent from home. I am so sad to see them go and will miss them terribly.
Have a good day, all.šŸ’™

Good morning all. Hello from Liverpool- the first of three visits this month. It's a sad one today. At the funeral of one of my Mum and Dad's dearest friends. Mass at St Charles on Aigburth Road, interred at Allerton cemetery and then Liverpool Cricket Club afterwards. We spent yesterday afternoon with my brother - he's split up with his current partner after 5 years but doesn't seem that upset. He made us a lovely Sunday dinner.
Glad you loved the new stadium @jazzy, shame about the results for decorating the tree,I have zero input. Mr F gets it down from the loft and daughter decorates it. However she no longer lives with us so I may have to do something this year!
Have a good day all x

I fully understand that. Christmas is for kids really and those of us who was still kids on the inside. I have been on a couple of walks today and it looks like plenty of people used the weekend to get their decorations up.
I'm very sad to report that I become the Grinch at Christmas.
I hate putting up Christmas decs, don't like Christmas music and with one exception can't stand Christmas films.
Two reasons I think.
1. My birthday is 3 days before and when I was a kid I always got a "big" present for both ( but it never was "big" šŸ˜‚) and I childishly ( well I was a child!) resented it.
2. We've never had children and , sorry everyone and whisper this don't really like them .

There are only 2 things about Christmas that I like - well 3 actually - catching up with friends for a meal and drinks - watching It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve - and going to the pub on Christmas morning.

Apart from that it's over rated nonsense IMO.

Fortunately Mrs J shares my opinion, be very difficult if she didn't!

Bah humbug.

I would be the one with the paper hat on from a cracker when sharing a festive meal with you šŸ˜€

I have learned over the years that Christmas means different things to different people but so does everything. It remains an exciting time for me and I fully embrace it as much today as I ever did.

This evening I will have my outside lights on for the first time and my 3 trees lit up inside. The blue and white tinsel adorns my picture frames and my festive candle is already working it’s magic.

Friday sees my first Christmas dinner but it is a more formal type sadly. Still, I will hopefully make good company while being so envious of the other tables with Christmas jumpers and party hats šŸŽ…

No need to apologise, I like children but I couldn’t eat a whole one… I’ll get my coat šŸ˜‚

I’m impressed that you fluff the branches out to an acceptable level- keep it quiet but there’s still fluffing to be done on ours
