Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

@Val P is that you in the middle, I remember going here back in the day

Loved a bit of northern soul
It wouldn’t surprise me if I was on it, I was a frequent visitor both midweek and at the all-nighters. If you’ve ever seen the documentary from the mid 70s I was there that night but hid away from the cameras as my mum and dad thought I was staying at my friends house 😂

St Petersburg was wonderful and we spent about four hours in the Hermitage Museum, a spectacular place as was the whole city.

One of my vivid memories was buying a T-Shirt with Putin’s face and some Russian writing on it for one of our sones. ( this was 2018/19 ish) I asked the young girl what the writing meant : “ The most Honest man in the world” was her reply . I burst out laughing thinking it was a joke or a parody, she was not amused and said no it is true. Her colleagues were also looking sternly at me now so I quickly excited the shop.
It must have been fascinating- I have heard others say it was a great place to visit

Evening everyone, just thought I’d share this pic of some impressive topiary (with an equally impressive bunch of mistletoe hanging in the tree) we saw on our travels this morning. Would love to have taken a picture of the whole garden, it’s full of topiary, but thought that might be a bit too cheeky.

I’m curious to know what is beyond that wall- it looks beautiful

Extraordinary. I seldom come into this thread (occasional lurker).
Yesterday, November 15, was the 50th anniversary of my first ever trip to Wigan Casino. 4 of us drove up from Surrey in my old Triumph, danced all night and drive home again.
The first of many trips.
It was a brilliant place - after it closed we used to travel around to other all-nighters at places like Stoke, Stafford, Hinckley, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and then just grew out of it I guess. Northern soul is still very much present around here if you know where to find it.

There were some Southern strongholds. Bristol and Bisley Pavilion especially.
The is a big following in Bristol currently.

Good morning all on this fine one here if you like grey skies . I hope all are well and had a good night .I have just been out for milk a 12 mile round trip ! Whilst out I listened to the world radio channel we have here ,it was in English .
The main topic was drone delivery of food by a company called Manna ( manna from heaven ?) who are an Irish company operating in three cities Dublin ,Helsinki and I think Dallas .Delivery is for a fee of 1.99€ or £1.50 it arrives at about 15m high and then lowers by biodegradable cord and can deliver fresh eggs or coffee it is that gentle . It uses google maps to locate the phone for delivery .
What a worls we live in COYB
Really not sure if I am ready for my groceries to be delivered by a flying robot. I do understand the convenience aspects for some but it’s also the stripping away of human interaction that is a worry.

I went once when I used to work in Warrington. Brilliant night.

Good morning all.I actually have nothing to do today - no Granny duties, no tasks to be completed. So I'm still in bed scrolling through Instagram. Ive discovered an Irish comedian called David Nihill who is absolutely brilliant. Very political, very funny. Then I'm off to aqua aerobics and after that, if they are in, I might call and see the newly engaged couple for a coffee.
We are going to Nottingham this weekend- Frankie is coming which will be lovely but I'm dreading the amount of gear we will have to take - travel cot, high chair, push chair just for starters!
Have a lovely day all x
