Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I love band documentaries. They can be about rubbish bands but they're still fascinating. They're usually hilarious too without setting out to be. I watched one the other day about Razorlight: I'd barely heard one of their songs before. But even that was good. The singer was a Poundstretcher Jim Morrison and up his own arse, and they were getting back together again.

Utterly embarrassing but great car crash telly.

Boyzone: felt sorry for the two lads originally chosen but thrown out after the first few weeks/months. They missed out on a few quid.
Where did you watch the Razorlight one?

Every band seems to have a tale of some poor soul who was ejected just before the collective makes it big 😀

One thing did get me though, Boyzone were 2 moderate singers; 1 musician who never actually did anything and 2 dancers. It was too contrived to ever be deserving of being called a band. That’s the only part I though the fellas lost the run of themselves.

I watched it a couple of nights ago. Very good.Louis Walsh came across as a horrible human being. I found it very sad .As you say, they lost their way a bit and I don't think any of them got over Stephen Gately's death. I thought the part where they said they stayed in the church with him the night before his funeral because he hated being on his own, and hated the dark and the cold was so emotional.
The church description was very symbolic of them returning back to young adults having fun before the status and fame arrived. If only they had retained that then they may be more content people now.

I found Gately’s passing very sad given what he had to go through with his public outing. I got the sense Louis Walsh loved all the attention around that time.

Hi guys. I hope you are all well. I need to give myself a good talking to. I'm slipping into all my bad snacking habits again and consequently the wreight has sneaked up by a few lbs. I think I'm stressed and annoyed so, as usual, emotional eating is at the fore. Nothing dramatic I'm annoyed because I put my partial retirement change of hours application in almost 3 months ago and haven't heard a thing in spite of chasing it up. I need that to be approved before I can put the actual application in to claim my pension. I can't see it being sorted by 1 May so I may have to delay it a bit. Stressed because daughter is in the process of moving out so trying to help her. In parallel we have also bought a house. We currently rent so we're also in the process of moving. I want to get the new place decorated before we move in. A decorator came out last Tuesday and said he would give me a quote I'm still waiting. I've just messaged him tonight to chase that up. Nothing is ever straightforward. I get very frustrated when people say they will do something and then they don't and I have to remind them.- especially in a professional capacity.
Anyway enough whining. How great is our new stadium. It looked fantastic last night. I've just been chatting to Chris, who a few weeks ago, was done with Everton. Tonight it was hey Mum, do you think Europe is a possibility- we're not that far behind now.
I'm off swimming and gymming early morning tomorrow then meeting my old boss for lunch. Have a lovely evening all x
That is a lot of life events going on in one go Anj, no wonder you are feeling a bit stressed.

Congratulations on the house purchase, not easy to do that.

It was on Prime mate.

Boyzone: one of the two lads sacked early on was from Rathmines. I have a family connection from generations ago.

'koff Walsh.

Lots of big events taking place at the same time is bound to be stressful. It will all be worth it when you are sitting in your new house cuddling your grandson.

Same, although typically I’ll only bother if I have an interest in the band hence I’ve swerved the Boyzone one.

I love that there’s always some chance happening that contributes to the success. Proper sliding doors moments.

Sunny Day Real Estate breaking up and contributing to half of the Foo Fighters original lineup, only for DG to p-off William Goldsmith by re-recording the drums on Colour And The Shape was a mad one. Hired Taylor Hawkins to join the tour and never looked back.

Back in the day I borderline wore out my VHS copies of Nirvana Live Tonite Sold Out, and the one chronicling RHCP recording BloodSugarSexMagik in that Cali mansion.

I can’t see the documentaries of contemporary bands being quite as exciting as the proper hell raiders of the 60s to 90s.

Wow what a day ,do you know what remapping is Val ? Hold on to your hat ! If you could take a short video to let us all listen to the atmosphere I would be eternally grateful .
Yes I do know what remapping is 😂. The garage keep trying to persuade me to have mine done but I’m now at the age where I just potter around so it would be completely wasted on me, and the fuel economy bit doesn’t seem worth it.

Morning all on this rainy day here. I’ve finally calmed down after Monday but still keep having a look at the photos. I’ve also managed to pick up a cold from somewhere so am sneezing and coughing and generally feeling sorry for myself. I don’t usually let these things stop me but this has wiped me out. So another day of not doing much so I’m fit for Saturday. A few weeks ago I would have just not gone but now I would have genuine FOMO if I didn’t 😂. Also since Monday I have been thinking about leaving Goodison which up until now has not troubled me, but I have found myself feeling very emotional at the thought of it.
I hope everyone is well this morning and that you all have a great Thursday 💙
