Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Afternoon all, just got back from Liverpool. Well I’m sure you’ve all seen lots of photos, streams etc of the ground and it seems like on social media there have been moans and great feedback.
In my opinion it is magnificent. We got to the ground as the sun was setting and it was quite breathtaking. The way that they have lined outside of the south stand with the trees and the view back to the city I’m sure will make it a place that people will want to linger even after the game. Inside it’s quite stark and industrial but they took great pains in the pre match email to manage expectations and say that there is a lot still to be done. It’s so spacious and the amount of ladies loos is fabulous- no more queueing for us hurray!!
We went up to where our season ticket seats are and I can’t explain the feeling of actually being in that spot, having been involved with the fan consultations and hearing Dan Meis’ vision at St Luke’s church, to see it was incredible. I felt very emotional tbh.
The sound system was magnificent and the big screens were big and bright. When they played the sirens and then z cars you could get a sense of what it will be like come August when it is full of people and atmosphere.
We were quite high up in the upper stand which was quite a challenge for mr p and his dodgy knee although there were escalators up to the stand entrance. And I’m glad our season tickets are further down. It reminded me of being in the high seats at Wembley. With hindsight we might have tried for the north stand but I’m not complaining at all. One thing I would say is it was flipping freezing- definitely going to need to invest in some thermals for next winter 🥶. We bumped into our Gwladys street steward who we always chat to and he was regretting not wearing a hat 😂.
Overall it was exciting to be there and an unbelievable experience. I’ll put some pics up below. I’ll never forget yesterday that’s for sure 💙

You are part of Everton’s history now Val and it couldn’t happen to a better couple……

This one’s for you @jazzy ! As we had eaten earlier we didn’t sample the limited menu but the lads had a toffee doughnut (had a bite it was yummy). If we weren’t giddy enough before, the additives in the blue icing definitely enhanced our excitement 💙
I can’t wait to see our stone on Everton Way, I’ll be that excited I won’t need any donuts.😂.

Has anyone watched the Boyzone documentary on Sky yet? While not a fan in the day, or now, I found it really good. Louis Walsh comes across very badly throughout but acknowledgement must be made too that the group lost the run of themselves a little. Perhaps they just knew no different as they were recruited as young men but regardless, fame and money was driving all concerned.

I watched it a couple of nights ago. Very good.Louis Walsh came across as a horrible human being. I found it very sad .As you say, they lost their way a bit and I don't think any of them got over Stephen Gately's death. I thought the part where they said they stayed in the church with him the night before his funeral because he hated being on his own, and hated the dark and the cold was so emotional.

I love band documentaries. They can be about rubbish bands but they're still fascinating. They're usually hilarious too without setting out to be. I watched one the other day about Razorlight: I'd barely heard one of their songs before. But even that was good. The singer was a Poundstretcher Jim Morrison and up his own arse, and they were getting back together again.

Utterly embarrassing but great car crash telly.

Boyzone: felt sorry for the two lads originally chosen but thrown out after the first few weeks/months. They missed out on a few quid.

Hi guys. I hope you are all well. I need to give myself a good talking to. I'm slipping into all my bad snacking habits again and consequently the wreight has sneaked up by a few lbs. I think I'm stressed and annoyed so, as usual, emotional eating is at the fore. Nothing dramatic I'm annoyed because I put my partial retirement change of hours application in almost 3 months ago and haven't heard a thing in spite of chasing it up. I need that to be approved before I can put the actual application in to claim my pension. I can't see it being sorted by 1 May so I may have to delay it a bit. Stressed because daughter is in the process of moving out so trying to help her. In parallel we have also bought a house. We currently rent so we're also in the process of moving. I want to get the new place decorated before we move in. A decorator came out last Tuesday and said he would give me a quote I'm still waiting. I've just messaged him tonight to chase that up. Nothing is ever straightforward. I get very frustrated when people say they will do something and then they don't and I have to remind them.- especially in a professional capacity.
Anyway enough whining. How great is our new stadium. It looked fantastic last night. I've just been chatting to Chris, who a few weeks ago, was done with Everton. Tonight it was hey Mum, do you think Europe is a possibility- we're not that far behind now.
I'm off swimming and gymming early morning tomorrow then meeting my old boss for lunch. Have a lovely evening all x
