Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

A belated good morning all ,I have been shifting snow again this morning twice in the last two days we have had about 15 cms and we are due +° so it is essential I clear it as it gets so heavy and then so slushy as you all know . I have shelved the Jag until the summer and I tried painting al a Bob Ross -it looks like I used my feet to paint ,I have never been able to paint other than house painting so I have no idea why I thought I might be able to now !
I hope all are well and have a great day .
Nine years ago we went on a fantastic holiday to Mauritius ,as they speak English and my wife was 60 I thought I would upgrade the booking to a sea view through the hotel as our agent said they couldn't do it .So I contacted the manager and asked if it would be possible and the cost if we so chose and that it was a holiday to celebrate Arja's birthday .I got no reply other than to say it had been passed to the person concerned .
Off we went and on arrival the night manager -no not that one - asked for me by name ,which peed the Finns off that had travelled with us .He walked us through this super hotel and took us to the first floor stood at the door and handed us the key ,when I opened the door all you could hear was the lapping of waves not 10 metres from our balcony .
The next morning we went down for breakast -they had a curry option on the menu for breakfast - this guy came over and asked are you Mr B to which I replied yes and he asked me which kind of cake would my wife like for her birthday ? Then I replied that it was to celebrate her birthday but it was not her birthday whilst we were there .It went on to truly be the best ever holiday we have had and we had quite a few long hauls .
The point of all this is that yesterday was not her birthday ,it is Sunday but she thanks you all for the good wishes it seems I forget to mention the day .
Have a great day all COYB
Happy belated birthday wishes to Letitia for Sunday. If that even makes sense. Hope you are going to be at her beck and call.

Hi folks. I hope you are all OK. Happy birthday Mrs Blue. @jazzy have a great time. @Val P your pics are great. I've had company again today. My friend's broadband still isn't sorted so we've been working together today.
How's the job going @Vegas Toffee Girl? Still loving it? I'm fully settled nto my new role and I have to say the days fly over.
Tonight's tea is woolly mammoth with cashew nuts and yellow bean sauce. Took forever to thaw out!🤣
Hope you don't have food poisoning today Anj😀

Genuinely moved by your sad news the other day. In my local, when a regular passed, (all to often these days), the wake/piss up would usually be back at the pub. Lunchtime most times. But when the evening shift started, the landlord put a small blackboard in the passageway, saying "In memory of ABC". Just so everyone knew of the passing.

A good friend of ours passed away Wednesday night. We were all together as usual in the pub at the weekend and she was as full of life and telling jokes as usual. I was with her husband on the Monday and he was due to call in the pub on Wednesday but didn’t turn up. I found out the following day. Our group of friends are all in shock. I’ve no idea as yet as to why she passed away, and tbh it makes absolutely no difference as she has now gone. I’ll call in to speak with my friend later today. I love Christmas but absolutely hate December…..
So sorry to hear of this Pete. Sending condolences to you and all your friends x

Had a visit to the vet this week, well it was easier than getting a doctors appointment ( I joke but it is true). Anyway blurry Stols was lame, thought he’d got over it but then it came back. Great getting an appointment, but a change was paying upfront for the consultation as the vets had been taken over. Got there and a cursory examination determined that as he had been lame before (18 months previously) then the treatment would be the same but an x-ray would give better info and might determine the cause. I watched as he couldn’t bend Stols ankle using a finger yet as soon as he put the foot down it acted normally. Anyway, gave me a cost for treatment of £456 for x-rays and bloods. Will admit I exclaimed but said ok. Was booked in for the next day. Got there and the receptionist says he’s in for x-ray, no i said and bloods. No, just x-ray has been priced she says. I said no and off she went into the consultation room. Anyway comes back and says there must have been a misunderstanding and it’s JUST an additional £120 for the bloods. At this point I felt like walking out particularly when she informed me the bloods was just to determine if Stol was ok for sedation. Went ahead without bloods and x rays showed sod all. The whole thing felt like emotional blackmail. Rant over, sorry

They have got you over a barrel. They know you will pay because you love your pets. Our cat is insured with an £80 excess. On the times she's been to the vet (one bite on leg from fighting and one scratch on her eyeball) we didn't hit the £80 limit once and the other one was £100. Decided it wasn't worth claiming for £20. Hope Stols is feeling better.

Just the health plan is over £300/year for a dog with VetsRus. Absolutely no cover for trauma in that. They sent me an e-mail to record my experience. I did. Wasn’t nasty but questioned why a vet is pricing jobs in that type of organisation. I was a cost engineer, could price every piping and mechanical job accurately but wouldn’t try welding. Neither would a welder price the job. Stol is sound after his medication thanks

Hi everybody. Last day in work today until next Friday. I have plans to catch up with a few pals, getting hair done for Christmas on Wednesday and doing the food shop at some point. I'm very much looking forward to it. Son and his gf are visiting between Christmas and New Year and I'm hoping to squeeze in a Liverpool visit.

Mr F and I are finishing our Christmas shopping at the weekend. Mr F is going out with his workmates tomorrow. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas......

I'm not liking all these rumours about 777 being knocked back by the PL. They might not be everybody's preferred option but we could go under although I don't understand how Moshiri can just say he's not funding us anymore. It's his business, he's the owner (although I think we all now know who the real owner was). I'm hoping the rumours are not true.

Yeah, we will no doubt do similar with a photo……
