Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

A belated good morning all ,I have been shifting snow again this morning twice in the last two days we have had about 15 cms and we are due +° so it is essential I clear it as it gets so heavy and then so slushy as you all know . I have shelved the Jag until the summer and I tried painting al a Bob Ross -it looks like I used my feet to paint ,I have never been able to paint other than house painting so I have no idea why I thought I might be able to now !
I hope all are well and have a great day .
Nine years ago we went on a fantastic holiday to Mauritius ,as they speak English and my wife was 60 I thought I would upgrade the booking to a sea view through the hotel as our agent said they couldn't do it .So I contacted the manager and asked if it would be possible and the cost if we so chose and that it was a holiday to celebrate Arja's birthday .I got no reply other than to say it had been passed to the person concerned .
Off we went and on arrival the night manager -no not that one - asked for me by name ,which peed the Finns off that had travelled with us .He walked us through this super hotel and took us to the first floor stood at the door and handed us the key ,when I opened the door all you could hear was the lapping of waves not 10 metres from our balcony .
The next morning we went down for breakast -they had a curry option on the menu for breakfast - this guy came over and asked are you Mr B to which I replied yes and he asked me which kind of cake would my wife like for her birthday ? Then I replied that it was to celebrate her birthday but it was not her birthday whilst we were there .It went on to truly be the best ever holiday we have had and we had quite a few long hauls .
The point of all this is that yesterday was not her birthday ,it is Sunday but she thanks you all for the good wishes it seems I forget to mention the day .
Have a great day all COYB

Morning all, cloudy again bit of watery sun poking through the clouds. Bracing ourselves for this evening when we have been “volunteered” to take grandkids nos 3 & 4 to the Mixed Martial Arts Club Christmas Party. Daughter and SIL both have works dos. so can’t take them 🙄. It starts at 5 and finishes at 8, children must be accompanied at all times so no leaving the little blighters to it. I offered to join in the festive spirit by going in my Everton Christmas jumper and received a look from Hannah which said “Don’t you dare!” Still tempted though🤣
Have a good day, all.💙
no need to reply I know you have a lot on but just to say thinking of you @Terrarian 💙

Bound to be a good shindig that..

Wasn't aware that they allowed that in Mauritius @blue1948

:D
You would be surprised ! Fantastic people we met there ,one was selling tee shirts and shorts etc ,he was the same age as me but couldn't retire as he had diabetes , although the health system is great ( A left over from British rule I was informed ) the drugs were too expensive .Being a Scouser I give him a "mug " he then invited me and the birthday girl to his home for a meal with his family .Gavel his name was and I think of him often . I do hope he is still with us and one day would love to get the chance to return there ,sadly funds but more my knees won't let me get that far now .

A good friend of ours passed away Wednesday night. We were all together as usual in the pub at the weekend and she was as full of life and telling jokes as usual. I was with her husband on the Monday and he was due to call in the pub on Wednesday but didn’t turn up. I found out the following day. Our group of friends are all in shock. I’ve no idea as yet as to why she passed away, and tbh it makes absolutely no difference as she has now gone. I’ll call in to speak with my friend later today. I love Christmas but absolutely hate December…..

Sorry to hear that Pete. It’s a very hard time of the year to bear a bereavement.

So sad @peteblue .I knew a man whose wife dropped dead coming out of a shop on Christmas eve leaving him with four young children .Give our regards to the family
