Happy Christening Day to Cicely and fingers crossed for the weather. Have a lovely day.Evening all, a nice evening here with the odd little shower but 23 degrees just after tea so still v humid. Missed most of the friendly as was having my toes done ready for tomorrow which will be a v happy and exciting day as our little granddaughter is christened. I have zero religious leanings but my daughter in law and her family are good churchgoing catholics. Josh was christened C of E because I think it’s easier to opt out of religion than opt in so he has had to jump through various hoops and promise stuff to marry his wife including bringing up Cicely as a catholic. Anyway I enjoy a good hymn so we’re going for the full mass in the morning and then the christening is at 12. I hope the weather is kind to us.

Bit of a theme going on here.....
We live about 300 metres ( as the crow flies) from the church although the bottom of our garden shares a boundary with the cemetery.
On a summer's night when I have windows open and can't sleep I find it reassuring to hear the peals of the bell on the hour.
@anjelikaferrett , sorry I've taken my eye off the ball here. So pleased to hear that Mr F is now making a good recovery. Fingers crossed that he will be restored to full health and fitness soon.

When we go on holiday we love to sit in a bar and people watch. We often give them nicknames ( nothing nasty ) a bit like couple in Simon and Garfunkel's America ..."She said the man in the gabedine suit was a spy " .
Anyway by extension I love to see people's reaction to an indiscretion. A couple of note in the last couple of days ....that idiot CEO on the Coldplay video who thought that ducking would get him out of jail and then blaming the band for exposing his affair. And then last night the indignation of the German footballer sent off for pulling the opponents hair.
It's like these entitled people think a different set of rules apply to them.
Anyway another day of sunshine and thunderstorms so it's TV sport for me.

I agree with that Val.
I find "faith" a difficult concept to understand/ accept.
However , perhaps it is something that lies deeply in all of us
I'm definitely not religious but I know that when Mrs J was seriously ill and facing her heart operations I prayed fervently for her .
So either I have some faith somewhere or was hedging my bets

It’s the other way round here, they are heard very rarely for a funeral and then only a single bell tolling. Actually the bells don’t always ring for weddings, you have to pay extra and I suppose some people don’t want the expense. Although I have no faith, I find the sound of church bells very reassuring. The oldest bell at our local church is dated 1601 and the thought that someone 400 years ago heard the exact sound that I am hearing today is, to me, mind - blowing.

I cannot open that link but I can see the truth or possibility of such as the three longest living areas of the world are all religious hot spots ,maybe the peace of mind that goes with believing is the main point in longevity .4 more years of Everton!!!
