Loveley to see some real positives for you Pete .Well done .Well the bonfire, fireworks, BBQ and Pub did really well last night. The place was absolutely packed and it seems everyone had a good time. I had no end of people thanking me and buying me drinks. I’m absolutely shattered now but still have more work to do with my wife, and then clearing up the bonfire later today, so you won’t hear from me until late tomorrow….sleep well everyone and have a great day …….
Not if you’re from WiganDoesn't everyone refer to Liverpool City centre as "town"?
Isn't Wigan a towun ?Not if you’re from Wigan
Ah that's because you're not from Liverpool. Not if you’re from Wigan
It sure is a town. Going up town to me means going to Wigan.Isn't Wigan a towun ?
Going to town means something very different to me, but yes I agree. I’d be surprised - and happy to be proven wrong - but I’m sure a good percentage of the many Liverpudlians who live in Wigan would say town is Wigan. Who knows ?Ah that's because you're not from Liverpool.
Nor am I of course but it's something that I picked up from Mrs J and all the lovely Scousers that I worked with.
I'd venture to suggest that if you were just 5 miles down the road in Skem everyone would refer to a day or evening out in Liverpool city centre as " going to town" ( not "the " town by the way)

Happy Birthday, Mr F.Hello everybody. Its been a very mild day here. Mr F has had a lovely birthday. As requested we went to the seaside - Redcar. We played crazy golf ( I lost), had a walk along the beach and had fish and chips. Tonight we went to the local firework display which was really good. He loved his trip to Leopardstown present.
I always went to town if I meant the city centre. I don't know anyone who said anything different.
I think I'm ready to go to bed - it must be the sea air and the 10000 steps.![]()
