Had a crap night tonight. Talking to the wife of my mate in the pub tonight (we both got in early so we could), who I told you had lung cancer. We thought it was clearing up but apparently not, he’s been given a few few weeks to one or two months to live. Of course she was distraught. She doesn’t want to say anything to our group of friends at the moment as she’ll just burst into tears. I’ll see him later today and take him a pint of beer, he’ll enjoy that. I’ll offer to quietly speak with all of our friends so they don’t all ask the same questions and ask them to keep her spirits up. I know getting old is crap, but I couldn’t even imagine in my nightmares what these last two years have been like…sorry to burden you but I need a release from the crap that’s going on around at the moment…I’ll be fine in the morning…….

How incredibly sad, it’s so good of you to support her like that. Take care of yourself too x

Went into to town yesterday . To say Liverpool was buzzing would be a massive understatement.

As I walked up Bold St all you heard was a multitude of different accents and absolutely loads of foreign voices. It is incredible how Liverpool has become a magnet for tourists, a completely different city in that regard from the Liverpool I met when in moved here in 1982.

Met a RS mate and we had a lovely pizza and split a bottle of wine in Rudy's before wandering up to the Philharmonic Music Room to see Gordon Giltrap and John Etheridge, 2 virtuoso guitarists.

The Music Room is a lovely little venue holding about 200 , with wonderful acoustics and a little bar.

As I walked back to Central it was equally busy.

Great night .

As we get older we more and more come across similar stories with our relatives and friends , what is always inspiring is how calm those affected are. Me, I hope I’ll remain calm and philosophical as I get older , while still still retaining a bit of Dylan Thomas determination:

Are Green Days Cafe and the Mexican at the Park end ( can't remember the name ) still there?

No, they're both gone now. Green Days is another café now that focuses on vegan food, and the Mexican is now Al Dente, which is really nice.

My recommendations for food on the lane would be Al Dente, Elif (Turkish), Bistro Noir, Hafla Hafla or Pippin's Corner.

Good luck to your son this morning, let us know how he gets on Phil.

He drew one game and lost the other, but I was happy with his performance, as were his coaches. I keep telling that while winning feels great, it isn't vital.

It's all about the experience, developing his game and building resilience and confidence; too many parents, however, make it all about the winning.

As long as he's better tomorrow because of today, then I'm happy for him.

Oh Pete I'm so sorry about this. You've been having such a rough time recently and you keep ploughing on, supporting everyone. I don't really know what else to say other than you're a star and don't feel like a burden to us. We all need an outlet. Sending hugs x

You will not be surprised to know that Lark Lane is very close to my heart. I went to school very close to there, once I moved out of home I had a flat on Ullet Road next door to Lau's Chinese - also close to Lark Lane, and we had our wedding reception in Marantos.

Good morning all on this fine sunny day .I hope all are well after a good night and that @peteblue has managed a few winks .
Without being dramatic this biopsy got me thinking ,knowing that it is a test for some cancers it dawned on me that it could be serious ,strangely I was not sad .
I have had a good life and my fears of being incapable before going would not happen so I am quite at ease with it all .Hopefully it is just a doctor being thorough and covering all bases but if it isn't so be it .I would only hope I could show some of the grace and inspiration of our own Karl .
On a less down to earth note ,it is nice to see Klopp going albeit the papers are full of him at the moment ,as he will certainly be a hard act to follow .
I sincerely hope the new guy will be Ten Hag the second .Have a great day all .COYB

Worst you can do is dwell on such things mate. You can't control anything now so just try and carry on as normal and deal with things as or if they happen.

If you ever have a walk down Lark Lane on a summer's day or evening, you'll get a very similar vibe. I had a quick pint last night on the way home and t'was great.

Today is about an academy game for my son this morning before we head off to the Albert Dock for a bite to Maray (owned by a top blue!) and a wander around.

Probably what I miss most about Liverpool tbh. Me and the missus often took the short stroll across Sefton Park to spend the day eating and drinking on Larky. We were so blessed to live in that part of the City for 30 years.

Been a bit poorly for a couple of days so, for me, today is Friday. Just been down to the local shop for my posh sausages and helped myself to a pasty whilst I was there. So pasty for lunch, an afternoon in the sun followed by G&Ts and fish and no chips. Tomorrow it's posh butties for lunch, celebrating the end of the season with my fave beer, and spicy chicken fried rice for tea. Hope those that can enjoy your weekend. Will be thinking of you Pete and Blue.

Just seen thunderstorms forecast for later in the South West. Hopefully we will miss out but the next couple of days looking good.
