Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, cold here but on the plus side it’s a bright and sunny morning. We’re currently watching Mr. Bates v the Post Office. Regular readers may recall I used to work part time in our local PO on the shop side. The postmaster would regularly be up til gone midnight balancing his books but a new computer system was on the way. I was offered a job behind the counter to assist him on Wednesdays so he could make an early start with the accounting. I refused as I didn’t have the confidence and the thought of a new computer system frightened the life out of me. The “unpleasantness “ which resulted in my leaving was brought back, all too vividly last night as the episode featured a raid on the Post Office, I sat with jumper over my head.
Have a good day, all.💙

So sorry to hear this G…….

Well, it was our friend’s funeral today. I had to leave my wife at home under the support of my son. The funeral went as well as could be expected but I absolutely hate crematorium funerals, which it was, because it just feels like a processing plant in my mind. Anyway, my mate, her husband, got through it fine, as did his daughter and grandson who both did a marvellous job of reading a poem, and the way and the words the grandson used to describe the love for his grandma. Very difficult to do but he did a Sterling job……..

Well this life throws up some twists and turns .We both love to eat pheasant ,I am sure I mentioned that there is a wild game shop near us that sells amongst other game pheasant and partridge fillets for about 30€/kg .We bought half a couple of years ago but when I saw that it was the breasts of about 15 birds I couldn't buy them again.
Anyway today after many times of trying they have agreed to sell us whole birds -I do have to prepare them myself but after relieving hundreds of fish of the innards I thought perhaps mister Google would help , sure enough there is a video .So we are getting four birds ( in for a penny....) for 40€ , we will get a pheasant liver paté as well .Where is the boy that couldn't touch a dead animal ? What has happened turning me into a butcher !

That must have been awful for you.

Glad your friend got a good send off

Good morning all. I hope you are all OK. More rain and drizzle here. I'm fed up of it and also the associated mud. We park our cars at the side of our house - it isn't a proper path but you can fit 4 cars in easily ( we don't have 4 cars!) However the recent rain has turned it into a swamp. Its horrible.
I've never eaten pheasant @blue1948. Is it true that you have to pick out the gunshot pellets?
Keep looking for Sir Viv @jazzy! I'm sure he's around somewhere just waiting to meet you.
I have, against my better judgement, been persuaded to join an exercise class in our local village hall. The first one is tonight. My mate is one of the parish councillors and is trying to drum up support. It's called clubbercise and apparently it is supposed to be like being in a night club. Its dark and glow sticks are provided. Nobody mentioned vodka or puking in the toilets so I guess that's not included. I'm dreading it🤣. Will let you all know.

Here they are before and after ,I must say I did not enjoy one second of preparing them . Yes you do have to be aware with all game of the shot ,we have a different way of eating here -no joke- because we eat fish that have bones and wild game we have a sort of soft bite and chew that tells if there are foreign things that should not be eaten .We will get six plates from each bird so it is not expensive :-1704896020976.jpg1704898136146.jpg
