Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Well that's my morning chores done - mum's housework and ours.

Cup of tea and watch the golf and hopefully ( weather permitting ) cricket and then start remodelling mum's garden.

She has a Meditteranean garden in the front and a rose garden where she sits but she loves cottage gardens ( which we hate !) so I'm going to redo a small section in a cottage garden style. Bought loads of hydranges , penstimen , rudbekia , phlox and geraniums for her yesterday and just need to remove a couple of rhodedendron and camillia ( yes I now it's not the right time of the year to be moving them Joey but it's cool and damp - and will remain so - and needs must ).

That will take me the afternoon so have a lovely day everyone.
Can't believe you don't like cottage gardens Jazz. What's not to like? When done well the colours and smells are amazing.

Edit. And the drones of the bees too. ;)

Yes I'm fairly sure you can. Haven't been for years.
Not been for many years myself. There are 2 walks we used to do along the Mersey frequently. One is Pickerings Pasture between Hale and Halebank which is a proper promenade and almost a secret haven as very few people even know it's there. The second is a walk down to Speke Sailing Club by the old airport, which is accessed via Speke Hall.

My brother used to walk his dogs down there. Can you get to Hale lighthouse from their too or was that a different way in.

Yes we'll definitely sail past it Jazz. Not sure how close we'll get as the channels are very narrow on the Mersey, especially at low tide. Still should be able to get some decent pics though.

We're actually in Liverpool on the August bank holiday Sunday. The neighbours are big Beatles fans so I'm going to surprise them with tickets for the Beatles Convention at The Adelphi. It's such a brilliant day and I haven't been for about 10 years. Hopefully I'll bump into Bill Heckle too.
Be fabulous for them to have as their guide to Liverpool

No Anj. There's a water treatment plant down there (which is a bit smelly) but you can see the lighthouse in the distance. The only access is through Hale Village (walk past The Childe of Hale and the Church) or via Oglet beach itself.

Well I've had what I'd call a good day. Had a nice lunch at my usual restaurant in Falmouth overlooking the marina. Then went to watch the new Indiana Jones film which I quite enjoyed. As I was renewing my membership card the lad looked at me and said "this is coming up as a concession". That's right I said. "But you don't look old enough". Get In!!!

Did some shopping and got the bus home and was preparing tea when the phone went. It was the neighbour. Fancy a cruise Al? We've just booked one with no single supplement going to Norway and Iceland and even stopping in Liverpool on the way back. So I've booked it. 21 nights leaving on the 8th August at a simply staggering price. It's not costing much more than it did to go room only to The Isles of Scilly for a week and I've even got a balcony. The only down side is it leaves on the night I was meant to be seeing the AC/DC and Guns n Roses tribute bands in Falmouth, which I've been really looking forward to.

The second downside is I'll need to iron some shirts. Where's Blue when you need him.lol

You’ll have a great time in Norway, it s quiet and drinks are expensive but the fjords are magnificent. Of course as you get up around the top you may find yourself in permanent daylight which is rather strange watching the sun come down to the horizon and then bounce back up. You will get a magnificent view of BMD so looking forward to the photo’s……
