MERSEYSIDE DERBY IN APRIL

I heard the Sky games on Friday didnt get the kind of viewing figures they wanted, not sure how they know that? So might not do any more perhaps.

Whilst that might be true, they paid a fortune for the rights to show 10 Friday night Prem games a season, outbidding BT for the rights.

Those 10 games have to be shown specifically on Friday nights. They can't move those selections to say a Saturday, Sunday or a Monday.

It's very telling though that they've only shown 4 Friday night games so far: Utd vs Soton on Aug 19, Chelsea vs LFC on Sep 16, EFC vs Palace on Sep 30 and Hull vs EFC on Dec 30. Anyone who has seen the shows with Stelling and Rachel Riley and all the pundits sitting on a sofa playing dress down Friday knows the format just doesn't work. The way they're presenting the games, trying to be different, just doesn't click.

Assuming Utd vs us is going to be televised, it's highly unlikely to be moved from the Tuesday night as Chelsea vs Man City is on the Wednesday night and that will almost certainly be televised.

Was just going to say the same thing. Think the game against Man Utd will be on TV so it won't be moved with Chelsea vs Man City already on the Wednesday. So that probably leaves the Friday night or Saturday lunchtime kick off for the Derby.

I have no idea, and care even less, when it will be played. I have no intention of watching it. It's my habit to swerve this game because of the grief it gives me, but for some reason, against my better instincts, I was persuaded to watch the last instalment. The manner of that defeat was nearly worse than all the others. So, thanks, but no thanks.

You're right

The concept of having a match on the telly on a Friday night is a good one IMO - not great for away fans, but great time of the week to actually watch footy on telly - whether you're in the pub or at home after a long week.

The way they've done it though is terrible. Needs a completely different presentation
