by far. Nevermind though we'll have Butland next summer

Ha, I dont actually fancy Butland myself. Far too young to make any judgement on him I reckon. I always remember Wright and Simonsen supposedly being the next big thing and they didnt pan out. I would alway prefer a more experienced keeper.

Big Nev was superb tho, utterly superb, but Martyn was no slouch.

Big Nev every day of the week for me. He was awesome, the best in the world at his peak, but he doesn't get much recognition because of never playing in an international tournament, and because he had little European profile because we were denied the chance of playing in (and winning) the old European Cup. People shouldn't judge him on the basis of the end of his career, although he was still a damn good GK even then.

oh undoubtedly and i loved him dearly, my opinion comes from what i saw of them both playing, and Big Nev was somewhat inconsistent towards the end (he rolled back the years in the '95 cup final)
