2025/26 Merlin Röhl

He’s either injured and its being kept quiet, or Moyes thinks his meat grinder football and team selections are still in with a chance of Europe so is sticking to his guns with his regulars selections and tactics to suit them.
Did'nt look injured on Saturday , he was jumping about celebrating when we scored and at the end.
If he was carrying a knock dont think Moyst would have him anywhere near the bench.

I wonder why he's thinking that with us in 8th place

Our results are a weird bunch at home though - Spurs and Newcastle were random games were we conceded bad goals from mistakes or set pieces and ended up chasing the game. Arsenal and Utd were decent performances and we could easily have got points from both games. We should have beaten Villa. Wolves and Leeds were games of two halves, one in which we played very well and the other badly. Brentford was the only real shambles. West Ham was a fairly even game and Bournemouth we dominated for 95% of the game even with 10 men. I don't think there is one thing going wrong.
I don't think we play at home like it is home most of the time. I was at Bournemouth and they were awful, we were a slightly less awful team on the night but we were awful, no belief. If we threw the kitchen sink at them that night we would have murdered them..we had Armstrong on the wing and O'Brien at right back. Idrissa was poor. We never did anything until too late and even then did not do much. It is so frustrating at home. Away he is a good as the very best. Does my head in.

Burnley are a good attacking team with a poor defence - if DM plays his usual dour tactics tonight expect another poor show - but if he attacks strong we will win ....

Given the CEOs history of attempting to wriggle out of obligations to buy, I do wonder if him being somewhat stuck on 10 PL games is no coincidence.

Not getting on last night was my only negative on the night. Well, negative is harsh, but you know what I mean. KDH was leggy at times after his goal and could have done with a breather.

We'll learn nothing from seeing Tim every week, so give Rohl or Armstrong a run.

Thinking that the deal for Merlin might also be fixed appearances

I'd be very surprised, all coverage at the time only said there was a clause of relegation that prevented the obligation to buy.

It did, but the present situation does make me wonder if we also put some sort of small minimum minutes / games clause in there too. It would’ve been prudent given his injury record, and could now possibly be used more as a way out of a deal we don’t want to do.
