2025/26 Merlin Röhl

Early signs aren't great, are they?

Still feel guilty typing that because it's so early and I hate making snap judgements about players, but a lot of the stuff that irritates me about Alcaraz is what I'm seeing here already - a bit of an athlete who looks like he can carry the ball well into open space, but worryingly lacking when actually passing the ball.

Merlin, Dibling, Barry, Aznao, all of them look like punts. And at this point, losing punts.

At the moment only deswbury hall ticks the box of money well spent. We're not in a relegation fight so there is the luxury of first season syndrome. Two are very young.
So you're looking at one season under their belt better next season thing.
Im not convinced but you never know.

Doesn't matter what position we play him in, he's gash. Does make you wonder what due diligence our scouts perform before we bring these "footballers" in. Still, at least we didn't give Amorim a job. Incredible, a multi billion pound business like PL football and nobody in charge has a scooby what they are doing.

Do we have to sign him at the end of the season or can we send him back?

Loan fee £2.5mil
Permanent obligation £17.5mil

Only get out ot this is if we get relegated

Freiburg knew what they were doing.

They knew Moyes was a patsy from his last decade of shocking signings.

I very much doubt Moyes

A) Did the scouting of the player
B) Decided on the fee

Obviously he signed off on the deal, but it was late in the window and we were desperate for players.

Maybe let’s give him a chance?

Makes me laugh how some want to emulate Brighton Brentford Bournemouth in recruitment then when we get a young player if he’s not tearing it up on his debut he’s immediately slagged off as not good enough. We don’t notice when they’ve had an average first season at these other clubs though, we only notice them at their absolute best after they’ve had months of acclimatising in the first team.
